    Franchise users vs the field...

So after many years on the board and many threads viewed and followed up on. I've came up with this perception on us as gamers. Within this board and beyond.

Year after year, title after title us Franchise players feel slighted. We feel we often get shafted on our preferred mode and its included (or lack of included features)

Been on the boards since PSP show days ect..

    Common phrases I see
"I'm gonna hold off on my franchise until"

"NOT Playing chise until they patch this"

"Not playing franchise until somebody devotes hours to making a version 65 of a perfectly crafted roster for thousands of opinions."

"His ratings are too high, I'm gonna hold off on my franchise"

Then it all clicked in my head. They have universal profile data. And have had it for a long while now.

They easy get tangible data that shows where users are spending there time..

    Diamond dynasty users They PLAY.

    Rtts users: They PLAY
    Online users : they Play!

Everybody actually picks up and completes games and plays in every mode except franchise by the mass majority.

Maybe comments on these threads are misleading. But many people are constantly pushing off franchise for 1-2-3 months post release...

Meanwhile SDS has data that shows people play rtts and DD 13x's more than they play franchise.

From a perspective of (I am a SdS member if I see this data well I know where the focus is going)

If we ever want franchise to grow and get better we have to play it out. Get knowledgeable with it on a multi season basis.

Have a default chise and a ridin chise...

But we really hurt ourselves when we voluntarily & collectively shelf an entire mode over a few prospects that we dont play enough for them to matter or.... over ratings or a wrong pitch repertoire. Dont get me wrong it can be annoying and take away immersion.

But we take away huge amounts of "Franchise weight in the gaming universe when we do not play the mode"

    Thoughts?

    Agreed.

    I’m guilty.

I’m sure MTO was developed for gamers like me. I’ve been playing the show since 08 and only played/finished a complete 162 season once.

I have no interest in MTO. In my opinion a deeper more fleshed out franchise mode would keep franchise players more invested.

Maybe I’ll give it a try with an NL team as I’m running a Jays franchise at the moment.

As a former franchise mode the joy player in all sports games, I gotta say, I didn’t really understand how much I was making myself hate sports games until I decided to stop considering console games worth pursuing as sim games.

But I still Luke sports games, so I just focused on what they do well, and ignore the modes they don’t.

I’ve played more and enjoyed the games more once I let loose of the white whale of the perfect sports sim.

Developers have two issues. One, a realistic sports sim, that carries on for multiple seasons is hard to pull off. But worse, they have long learned that franchise modes don’t sell games. If they did, THAT is what they would lead with every year.

And if you gotta start a thread asking people to change their gaming habits to save a mode in a game, that pretty much tells the story.

Don’t get me wrong. While there are not enough gamers to make franchise a priority, there are enough to hurt game sales if they throw a big enough fit. So they manage you guys. Dude, they convinced a ton of Madden guys that X-factors were sim.

So far, that’s been the sim gamer tactic. Try to ruin the sales of games that others like.

the reason Sony has more heavily invested in RTTS & DD is it's sound business sense. look at what you can spend extra on in these two modes vs the money you can spend on purchasing franchise sponsorships will tell you the bottom line is the bottom line. it's just good business to run it the way they have been. the thing is, I think they're content with where franchise currently sits. but they want to stay in business, Sony has to continually upgrade DD & RTTS each year. I'm franchise guy foremost but if DD & RTTS is what allows me to have a baseball game every year then as much as I personally dislike DD, I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. what really needs to happen if we want improvements in franchise to rival DD & RTTS then we need to brainstorm ideas for franchise add-on content that will make SDS up the ante on franchise

You can do that. It’s called critical situations. You just don’t get the momentum swings.

Ill also add in that there are alot of legacy issues when going deep into a franchise and SDS has no need to fix them because the data likely shows 75% (Or even higher, who knows) do not even get into season 2, let alone season 3, 4, 5, etc.

Why craft an elaborate Owner mode with a create a stadium, ticket prices, concessions, promotions, etc, if the vast majority of Franchise users can't get through one season?

I am not one of these people, I typically get 8-10 seasons in a year (play 1 sim 5). Going off what OP is saying I see alot of franchise people who play every game, complete or do not complete a season and restart the next year. Again, not getting to season 2.
