We need to stop saying things like "once they stop developing for last gen". The visuals didn't dramatically change between MLB 16 and 17, which was when they stopped developing for PS3. We need to stop moving the goalposts and giving excuses. MLB The Show's uniforms have looked basically the same for what will now be the 10th game in a row. They've gotten complacent with the visuals and deserve to be called out.

Exactly. That isn’t a valid excuse 7F871247-6C7A-4ADE-817E-A2C2BD9D05E5.jpeg
That is 2K on last gen and MLB the show on current gen. MLB the show is just a terrible looking game. No matter the generation.

Re: Uniforms in MLB The Show 23 appear to have gotten a noticeable graphical upgrade.
Could it be that SDS didn't update the modern players uniforms in order to continue having crossplay between last gen and current gen consoles?
I mean, none of us will be 100% sure either way until a real MLBTS23 gameplay trailer drops, or maybe the Tech Test.
I for one am certain that they are holding back current gen to continue on this crossplay with last gen.Comment

So I've been thinking about the Ian Kinsler legend reveal picture... I'm now wondering if the uniforms are only updated within the Negro League Storylines mode bc this is essentially and offline only Moments mode.

Not to be that guy and try defending SDS but it will always be Apples/oranges when comparing 2K to MLBTS when it comes to graphics like this.
Every time you load into a game in NBA 2K, the arena lighting is the same. There’s no day/night, time of year, cloud coverage. Sure each arena may offer a slightly different lighting but still, that’s 32 different lighting that will be consistent no matter what.
I agree that MLBTS has become a shell of itself, I remember thinking their graphics were so far and beyond other sports games but in recent years they’ve steeply falling behind. But i do believe there’s factors other to itComment

I could do the same with just about any character from just about any game. Madden, Fifa, GTA, whatever. The characters are just lackluster.

When I first got a PS3, there was no better looking sports game on the market than this one. It was so far above everything else that it was insane. Unfortunately the changes since then, at least to players have been minimal. The stadiums look fantastic though, along with the crowds. But I agree basketball isn't a great comparison. The main thing outside of the players is the different court designs. Everything else is pretty much the same.
I can use almost any game. They have bottom of the barrel character design

It is completely fair to not expect The Show player models to look better than NBA 2K player models on the same console generation for all the reasons you mentioned plus the immense budget gap given the vast difference in revenue they generate.
But we are so far past that now. Last year's PS5/XBX Show players look a lot worse than LAST GEN NBA 2K player models. That was already pathetic and one of the reasons I skipped last year's game. If there is not a noticeable improvement this year, I am done with this series until there are some major changes.Comment

Re: Uniforms in MLB The Show 23 appear to have gotten a noticeable graphical upgrade.
this is what happens when MLB The Show has no competition, I feel if they did they would step up when it comes to graphics, its pretty pathetic player models are still the same as PS3 Days. With the power the PS5 and Xbox Series x has this should be one of the best looking games. They did it on PS3 why can't it be done on this gen ? It feels like they don't care enough to upgrade when they know most will pay for an upgraded roster.Last edited by Playboy™; 02-13-2023, 07:33 PM.Comment

Talking about old gen visuals…the “breadcrums” on the dirt were added as a next gen feature when the ps4 came out. Now I wasn’t blown away back then but now coming in on the 3rd year on the ps5 and it hasn’t changed one bit.
I think it might even look better without the random breadcrums on top of the tarmac like infield.

Another thing they need to improve are the cleats, some models look gigantic.Comment

If you have a really skinny, tall player wearing some of the high top cleats, they legit look like they're wearing clown shoes.Comment

The Pirates gold in the game is right on, IMO. It's a bright golden yellow.Comment
