Re: Too many strikeouts
Some much needed wisdom injected into a debate which has more or less turned into a pissing match between MLB20’s fans vs MLB23’s.
It’s a video game. It’s supposed to be fun. Play whatever you have fun with. Don’t worry about other people. There are a whole bunch of versions of MLB the Show you can buy for whatever console you own. There’s older games like MVP. If 23 isn’t fun for you, there’s a game out there that you’ll enjoy. Go find it and have fun.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
For me it had nothing to do with being a fan of MLB20 vs MLB23. If I didn't have this strikeout issue I would rather play MLB23. I still play some MLB23 but the experience is inferior due to strikeouts. It does impact gameplay so the comment about just playing isn't really applicable. That would be like saying if you play a football game and the scores are competitive but the CPU never calls a pass play just have fun and enjoy. Or play a basketball game but the CPU only shoots 3 pointers, just enjoy it as the end game scores are good. Some much needed wisdom injected into a debate which has more or less turned into a pissing match between MLB20’s fans vs MLB23’s.

When 65%-75% of the outs are via strikeout it impacts the gameplay. The reason I and others brought up MLB20, MLB22, and others is that this isn't an issue in those games. Of course we can still play those but then we miss out on the enhancements of MLB23 in other areas.
I understand some don't have problems with this. I wish I didn't. They clearly have done something with MLB23 or this topic wouldn't exist. And the data of MLB23 vs past versions shows me something was done (at least for how I play with quick counts and legend pitching).
It isn't a match against other games. It is disappointment that the game we want to play has the K issue that makes it less enjoyable (for those of us experiencing the high K rate).Last edited by TheBrew101; 11-12-2023, 07:53 PM.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I do sympathize with the QC crowd. My guess is that the "contact boost" described in the guide was greatly reduced this year as a result of the other changes to try and get more strikeouts (since Quick Counts are also used in DD events and iirc are an option on other online play). Hopefully that gets fixed for you guys in the future. If it doesn't, then it comes down to what is more important for you; more realistic gameplay/numbers, or faster games.
