So its a pretty big tip of the cap nod to Seattle to put Jeters Achilles in The Show.
Sorry, but not buying that lol

I should probably clarify my stance. I preordered the game and I don’t regret that preorder.

SDS (it would seem) making minimal adjustments YoY does solidify the game will play an incredible imitation of MLB. I personally think this game does still look beautiful when no one on the field is moving. The animations from player, environment, equipment, and uniforms has started to age like milk.

This, for my money, is the worst marketing I’ve EVER seen from a development team through two reveals. Even if a viewer likes the storyline adds, the droning on into the minutia by voices in the clouds is hard to stay engaged with.

I will still play the wheels off ‘24 and really this poor content trickle only kills my anticipation buzz. The game will still captivate me.

See all you usual sickos on March 15!

I believe what he was trying to say is that there were many other features that used to be in the game that have been removed. It's not a comparison of setting hot dog prices vs a Jeter feature, per se. It's the fact that they have been taking things out that many people enjoyed related to Franchise and other modes and are putting things in that are not universally received well...or even requested by the buying public.
I don’t feel like they’ve even removed features that were in the game. But just stopped adding **** many years ago. I used to buy the game every year and play franchise and RTTS, for years they added stuff, then around 16 and 17 they just stopped.

Edit: okay I guess they did strip stuff from RTTS, I was thinking just franchise at first lol

I’m not here to convince anyone not to buy the game. I don’t care what others do with their money, and if you can find enjoyment out of the game I think it’s great. That doesn’t mean every move by SDS is the right one.

This team used to zoom into outfield walls to show differences in textures/lighting. They used to jump right into gameplay to recreate in game scenarios and show us the differences from the prior year. These are things that would be noticed by every gamer regardless of what mode you play.

Can you agree that not showing gameplay until what seems like a week before release is pretty outrageous? That goes for any game, not just the show.

I understand people are frustrated because the first two premieres are about modes they have no interest in playing and are eager to hear about their preferred mode.

In regards to gameplay for me it’s not a big deal it hasn’t been shown because I truly enjoyed last years and think it’s the best yet and I don’t anticipate the gameplay taking a step back.

Would I like to see gameplay and a trailer? Absolutely! I’m a fan of the game eager for any information. But do I think it means the gameplay will suck or they’re hiding something because it hasn’t been shown/discussed yet? No I don’t.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

This is my assumption, which is just a guess. I've not liked at all the two premieres they've shown even a little bit. But the lack of gameplay shown seems like it would be because gameplay is largely unchanged. Which isn't a big deal because gameplay is very good. So maybe the bulk of the updates for 24 are more or less cosmetic....and/or under the hood type of updates. We'll see.

Jeter certainly put up HOF numbers and no doubt he was weak defensively but I think what he brought to the clubhouse was a big piece to his game as well.
Playing for the Yankees can be really good or really bad depending on how the media depicts you.

I agree with the wait and see approach. SDS has definitely marketed this year's game differently than in the past. There's no problem in waiting until release day to make your decision of whether you're buying or not.

Maybe SDS is wanting to slowly build up hype until very much closer to actual release day and then really mention something big. Kind of a strike while the iron is hot approach, as opposed to building up hype 1 month out and then having it die down as release date hits bc you spent all your bullets. OR maybe it's not this, and this will just be an incremental update year. We won't know until we know. But we can all make a decision to play or pass on this year's game at whatever point we want.

You cannot judge any product until it's released. The video game industry as a whole has burnt people so many times especially. There is no game that I would preorder based on promises other than MLBTS. There have been good years and not so good years, but this series has always delivered great experiences for me and solid gameplay, so I do have faith in their product year after year.

But, given how much certain areas of this game have stagnated in recent years (namely visuals and Franchise), I don't blame people for approaching this Storylines-heavy marketing approach with skepticism/frustration. I appreciate Storylines for highlighting and celebrating the sport's history, but making them such an early point-of-emphasis is puzzling, to say the least.
The problem the last couple of years is that the whole game is seemingly about dev “passion projects” while the rest of the game stagnates.

Just pointing out a few things that have been removed as it has not been nothing.

Ability to set prices as mentioned earlier. Personally I hated this so glad it is gone.
Ability to set fly or bus to games. Same as above. Glad it is gone.
Ability to buy franchise budget with stubs. Out of everything, this is the biggest let down for me.
I am not going to dwell on the obvious ones like season mode or year to year saves as that has been discussed a lot on here.

Now overall with 24, I am in a wait and see mode. I won't be pre ordering and will give SDS the chance to show the updates to franchise mode. My gut tells me, there have been minimal changes. But obviously we will know sooner to the release date. My gut tells me this will be a late season, deep discount purchase because I don't think there will be any substantial changes I am looking for.

Absolutely. I think the knee jerk reactions are way premature. The compression of videos, etc, the awful marketing by SDS…..

Then I buy the game and it’s a completely different experience. I’m hyped.

Lol, no, not everyone will. This is the type thing people with a pessimistic approach will view it negatively. And optimists will view it as a positive. I try not to be pessimistic in my approach but sometimes I fail that standard, as I imagine everyone does at some time or another.
