2k? Sure. FC and NHL have been given worse reviews and feedback than the show because people complain that they have bugs and horrible gameplay, on top of modes that don’t work. People complain about EA for the same things you are complaining about with SDS, probably even moreso.

Re: Franchise Mode- Rainouts/Doubleheaders
Nothing groundbreaking in your list. Most are "back of box" features. How is the game not growing??? Because it doesn’t have what you want?
They’ve added over the years:
Negro Leagues storylines
New gameplay mechanics
New commentary team
New presentation themes
Updated features inside multiple modes
Added create a stadium
Added rule changes
Amongst other things
So aside from them not adding specific things/features you’re wanting, explain how the game isn’t growing?

Re: Franchise Mode- Rainouts/Doubleheaders
Even Madden working on old code managed to add Next Gen level graphical upgrades. So did FC. NHL is always improving franchise features along with next gen graphical upgrades. And this is EA mind you.2k? Sure. You’re avoiding the question.
It wasn’t about “ground breaking” it was about growing.
Again aside from them not adding the things you specifically want, how is the game not growing?

Re: Franchise Mode- Rainouts/Doubleheaders
There is code in Windows 11 that is from Windows 5.1. You don’t throw basics away, you keep and build on it as new tech becomes available. Again, I suggest taking a coding class just to learn the basics so you can understand what goes into it at the simplest level.A good related question to ask is why there would be 2000s code still in a AAA 2024 product? This code should have been rebuilt from the ground up at least during the PS4 generation. Instead, they went for the [emoji389] [emoji383] grab of DD.

Re: Franchise Mode- Rainouts/Doubleheaders
NHL is not improving. I played NHL for years and the NHL community is livid with what they’ve done with the game over the last 5 years. Franchise had maybe 2 years where they improved things, but they haven’t touched it in the last 3-4 years. They’ve only “improved” HUT and WOC, and even those modes they’ve made worse this past year with some of the changes.
Also the gameplay finally improved a bit this year but hasn’t been any good since NHL 19 maybe.
Plus read the Madden forums and all the issues they’ve had with Franchise mode over the last 3 years.
Point is I agree that SDS can improve, but every game has its areas it can improve. EA is not a good case of drastic improvements since they’ve barely done anything to their games in the last 2-3 years.Comment

We are talking about games not Windows. Many AAA companies build from ground up.

Re: Franchise Mode- Rainouts/Doubleheaders
Whenever I say Show fans have no idea how good they have it, it's partly from the awful experiences I've had with Madden and NHL franchises. The grass is certainly not greener elsewhere and those players will be the first to tell you.NHL is not improving. The issues in Madden franchise are baffling. The Show is like getting a new car every year after trying to enjoy that nightmare.Comment

Re: Franchise Mode- Rainouts/Doubleheaders
So you don’t know how coding works, but want to explain how coding works. Cool.
You are describing exactly what they are doing. They’ve taken the base code from way back when the game was first created and have built on it ever since. Sometimes they remove some code, other times they add to it.
I don’t know how better to help explain what they’ve done. But all the other games you mentioned have done the same exact thing. Madden developers have specifically mentioned they struggle with how to fix Franchise because they have to figure out how to work around the existing code that has been in there for 2 decades.
And like I said, we agree we want improvements. I want Franchise to have so many more features. But I understand it’s not something they can just add in one 6-8 month cycle.Comment

I'm not explaining anything about code, I said it's not my job. If you want to give SDS a pass, your choice. I just know that other developers like 2K and Maximum Football among others have said in their blogs and interviews that they dont use existing code.So you don’t know how coding works, but want to explain how coding works. I don't believe in 2024 any AAA studio should be using code from the 1990s. If you do, great. But I'm taking my $$$ elsewhere. I don't play DD.
I love The Show in many ways but it's time for them to figure out how to update and move forward. The groundbreaking features have already stopped, any upgrades are minimal and at some point will stop with this code base.

Re: Franchise Mode- Rainouts/Doubleheaders
That's the trick is that all of us have things we want and areas where we believe improvement would be welcomed by a majority of players.
It's just unreasonable to suggest that the devs aren't doing their jobs (which again, is exactly what's happening and I don't know why there was even an effort to deny it) and that this can all be done with a simple code rebuild. It's a wild and unfair take.Comment

This is an admission that you have no idea how video games are made and it makes me question why anyone should listen to you about it.Comment

I don't know how video games are made. I do know many are not happy with the stagnation of the Show. It amazes me you think 1990s code is ok today.

I respect that, and ofc that is your choice. If you do not like what they are doing do not spend the $70. Some people will be ok spending some won't. Plenty of people on these boards do not upgrade every year. Some of them are big time slider guys, roster guys who have skipped many seasons due to not feeling the updates were worth it. Some even wait until the price drop. Everyone has a choice.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day
