Re: MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
More meters and basically a perfect-perfect for robbing home runs. Hoping for a lot more with the ambush hitting…felt last week it was a revamped guess pitch. Noticed some lag in a couple of the clips. Watched it a few times. Pitching simply needs to be harder so hopefully they fixed that.Comment

Isn't ambush hitting just another name for guess pitch...where you moved the joystick to a certain zone pre-pitch?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
Gameplay has always been this studio's bread and butter. I was not expecting anything major here, mainly because their gameplay is top notch and holds up over the course of 12 months.
GOAT difficulty has me intrigued, as others mentioned it needs to be a thing for Pitching moreso than hitting. Pitching on Legend can be very easy with default sliders. Hoping to get that clarified in deeper dive.
To the numerous people claiming Ambush hitting is recycled Guess Pitch you are missing the point. Guess pitch would literally show you exactly where/what pitch is coming. With a very generous visual feedback before the pitch is thrown. Ambush hitting is much more under-the-hood. There is no visual feedback before the pitch and not even a pitch type factor.
If you hit with zone, I promise you there's been times where you tell yourself a fastball up and in is coming and you move your PCI there, it'd sure be nice to get some sort of perk/reward for your baseball intuition. But you also get heavily penalized if you are wrong.
The new throw meter is fine. I do like the risk involved with going for a perfect throw. Rather than going for it with no consequence and still getting a green throw if mistimed. I turn off throwing meter because I would go a full 162 with less than 5 throwing errors. Now I let my player ratings determine throwing errors.
The clean screen player in me is really hoping we can turn off those visuals under the infielder. After 2 games I'll know which fielder has a good/bad reaction, I don't need an arrow every ground ball.
Animations are fine, would be nice to get a fresh look but I also understand how tall a task that'd be, and I don't think it'd be as clean and polished enough year 1 to warrant the time and resources.
Again, this game prides itself on gameplay and rightly so. Any tweaks they make typically make the game feel better and smoother so I have no issues with "lack" of upgrades.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
So that’s it? Guess pitch has been renamed and the throwing meters have been changed again. I don’t see how this can move the needle for anyone. I understand there’s different departments that work on different aspects of the game, but I don’t understand how if gameplay has barely changed (which is fine since it’s already in a good spot) for the last two years, why haven’t the graphics, presentation, and franchise mode been receiving significant updates? Where is their budget going??"Friends dont let friends be packer fans"Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Fielding Feedback: Gameplay Updates
After that gameplay deep dive I’m quite underwhelmed.
“Ambush Hitting” seems pretty adjacent to “Guess Pitch”. Nearly feels like the same thing.
The other gameplay improvements seem negligible. Throwing meters revamped are ok I guess? Same with fielder reactions etc. Most of these changes feel catered to the DD Crowd. GOAT difficulty intrigues me however.
But honestly my gripes with this franchise have rarely been anything to do with gameplay as I feel it’s in a very nice spot. Any improvements we do get are welcomed.
I would love to see an animation overhaul however. I’m seeing the same ones in this trailer I have since MLB 15.

There were a few parts where the grass/dirt looked somewhat improved, but I’m guessing it will be really hard to notice until we’re actually playing the game.Comment

MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive - Gameplay Improvements
The textures of the dirt look improved but it still looks super flat with some bread crumbs around home plate and during slides. So far not really impressed.
I like the tweaking of the throw meter with the perfect throw now at the end of the green zone instead of always in the middle. Easier homerun rob meter is very welcome and the rest sounded like stuff that’s already in the game..Comment
