Brock Holt and the whole getting 100 hits thing is taking absolutely forever! I hate his stance, he's hard to hit with. I have something like 44 hits with him right now. Have to bear with him for another 56 hits... the reward better be worth it.

Also, I used Jim Palmer for 40 k's. He wasn't all that bad, but it got annoying. At least the gold Dave Steib card I got was worth it.

I can already tell I'm going to loathe using Phillies Kenny Lofton. Nothing like getting all 40 cards and getting an 82 year old who has no actual offensive or defensive abilities of note!

Agree 100%. Brock Holt is driving me insane. I have him early in the order to get the most at bats but i still have like 60 hits left. He is a 1-4 machine...lol

Just play 9 inning games against the padres on rookie difficulty. You can get 5-6 hits with him per game pretty easily on top of racking up stats with other guys too. Just be aware that playing on rookie will decimate your swing timing for when you go back to legend/hall of fame. I learned this the hard way.

I cannot be wait to be done with Rookie Rickie Weeks. I need 2 Steals and a Double in one game. I keep getting thrown out at 2nd and cannot hit into the gap (or at all with him) to save my life.

I STILL haven't given up. It's not even that I can't get hits with him, it's just a homer and double is rough. I also had a 100-hit challenge with Bichette (veteran version), but knocked that out. Basically I'm tired of Bichette but now I refuse to give in until I pull it off. I don't care if it takes 600 ABs it's my white whale.

It's so frustrating. I had two hits and got robbed on a laser line drive.
I feel good that I got the Konerko one done within a couple games after reading a couple of these.

I'm with all of you. I honestly see the devs changing this challenge. It's just so absurd. HIT A DINGER AND A DOUBLE (IN THE SAME GAME) WITH THIS BATTER WHO DOESN'T HIT VERY HARD AT ALL

I kid you not, I hit FOUR home runs last game with Bichette (was on Rookie obviously) and didn't get it because he was 4-5 with FOUR home runs but no double. Two of his homers hit off the very top of the wall, and I was thrown out in my final at bat digging for two -- it was an insanely close play.

                  I was devastated.

Chris Tilman obviously because of his motion.. Dudes a beast for me, almost 10ks or more every game but it's just so slow....I got like 21 ks left & he'll be done with for the diamond player.

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission

My most hated is definitely rookie Dave Stieb.
I mean, it's a simple enough task, 1 quality start. However, I just cannot get him to do it. All other rookie pitchers I can handle, some better some less good. Porcello was rated 70 yet I had little trouble collecting 40 Ks, about 10 at a time.
                      This guy, though...
I don't know what it is with him. But it's getting a bit psychological as well. When I see him chosen, I know what I must do, but I also know that he will dig a hole by allowing hits and homers from the get go. I even start warming up relievers immediately.
And when I do sometimes manage to keep a clean sheet, it is always tbe game in which my hitters struggle at the plate, competing which will win, popups or groundouts. Ending up in having to relieve him and get a win with someone else, who then wins 10-0 because my batters suddenly get rejuvenated once Stieb is pulled.

Also, what exactly constitues a quality start? In conquest and in 9 inning games?
I have 10 so far, but don't really know the criteria.

3 ER or less and go 6 at least innings. You can't get quality starts in Conquest games as they're 3 innings.

                          Aha! Thanks a lot.
Guess I was getting upset for nothing. I'll njst remove him from the rotation.
Once I return to vs games, should be better, since I still need a lot of wins with rookie and breakout pitchers.

Rookie Griffey Jr is my white whale right now. Trying to complete his Debut Game performance, and can't get both the Double and the Walk in the same game, can get one or the other, so I'll get the walk on his First AB - then get the run, but then nether find the gaps in the outfield to turn a single into a Double. Or I'll get the Double, then everytime I'm trying to generate a walk, I'll leave a strike just clipping the edge, or ground/pop out to the infield trying to foul it off.

I can't get the Debut challenge either. I will either get a walk and a run or a double and a run. I have have him lead off and I have started so many games with a double and then he scores. Then the next 3-4 ABs they will just groove the ball one after another to him. I can't get a walk to save my life if I start the game off with a double.
