I don't play competitively simply because I can't pitch using pinpoint. Classic is the only option that I'm any good at. Same with hitting; timing the only way I can hit. I can't focus on my timing AND moving a dumb cursor around following a moving target with a moving target(er). Pinpoint pitching? Forget about it lol. I can't move the stick around and down like that consistently enough not to get walloped around. Plus I think it's awful that we can do exactly what it is, pinpoint location at will every single pitch.*
However, out of all sports games I think MLB has the best card game thing. Easy to get good cards for free. The game is so one v one pitcher/batter and only three innings so you're not going to go through the lineup more than 2 times usually I assume. So, it's not as easy as say Madden to have a a couple 90+ overall guys and be able to dominate an opponent by over abusing one play to get one guy the ball etc
I really wish there was an option that forced both players to use player attributes to determine outcome more than can I move the target to square up a ball. I find it silly that I can hit a HR on any pitch no matter the location as long as it's squared up and perfectly timed. I've tried playing guys using what I do and there's just no way to stop them when pitching.
With that said, if there's anyone interested in playing a game this way for fun let me know. I don't have a great, or even that good of a team because I play franchise mostly. Also, relying on timing hitting ensures that all challenges are 10x more difficult so I'm not easily completing anything to get rewards. That also gives me the idea. There should be bonus rewards or just bonus XP if you're using these two ways to hit and pitch.
