Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

I'm SS for the Mariners in my 4th season and batting 3rd. I have Pujols and Braun hitting behind me so I have plenty of protection. Talk about a hell of a season they trade for Braun at the deadline and sign Pujols in the offseason. I'm in May 2013 and am hitting .504 with 9 HR and 41 RBI. I'm also on a 46 game hit streak. Joe Demaggio here I come. And all this on All-Star level. You also cant beat a rotation of Felix Hernandez, Josh Beckett, Brandon Webb, Brandon Morrow, and Erik Bedard... I know I can't believe how agressive they've been in FA and trades either. Only problem is the BP sucks up the joint right now leading all of baseball in blown saves. But that's because they can't seem to ever get the ball to Jonathan Broxton so he can close out the games. Going for a 3 peat this year.

I know exactly how you feel.

I had a pretty long session tonight and my guy just got done spending his usual 2 month stint on the DL. And I bet you tonight my guy went 20 for 150. I finally just gave up for the night and started playing Fifa, lol.

But man this RTTS is addicting as hell. There is one thing I do know and thats that I'm going to spend every extra training point I have on durability.

It's easy to move up the ranks if you start as firstbasemen in the Indians organization starting in the majors midway through season 3

Does anyone think the baserunning controls are a little slow?

It just seems like it doesn't "register" when using the analog stick sometimes.

          Maybe it's my controller, IDK.

Quick question for those who have went the distance. I'm a few years into my RTTS Starting Pitcher and I'm I got pretty decent stats, though a bit strange. That's another story, lol. Thing is I gotta be the worse hitter in the league. I'm not even .100 and even my bunting is suspect at times. Is this going to affect how teams view me and my worth? Or is the game going to take into account I'm a pitcher and pretty much ignore those stats.

I have quit probably 4 RTTS careers 2 which have been successful. But I just can't hit homeruns for some reason, it is not like '08 where you could have power in the 30's and still 450 ft shots to centerfield

Diamond Jaxx im 1-2 with a 2.22ERA 15K. My 2 losses were pretty bogus seeing how they summoned me both times in the 6th both times being tied with runners on 2nd and 3rd. But hopefully my Knuckleball setup works as good as it has been. I get 2 strikes with my 4SFB and trow a low and outside knuckleball to almost get the K each time.

Update: Well my first start wasnt so good. 5.0IP 10Hits 4ER my Knuckleball was just so hittable today it was frustrating. Hopefully I get another start to prove myself! Need better # then this if I wanna pitch in the majors. Only kinda good thing that happened today was I didnt earn the L
Haha, my first RTTS was with a knuckler w/ 4 seam & slider. I'm in season 5 with him now and he was the ace pitcher for the Royals in spring training but I added a forkball as his 4th pitch so his overall is temporarily below Greinke's now.

I will warn you you might want to hold off on adding break to the knuckle once you get in the 70s. I thought the knuckle was very effective with 70 break in AA but I wanted a knuckler with 99 break. Now it often won't break across the plate. You'll wanna focus on location AND BB/9 with him before going overboard with break (I have great location rating, but my BB/9 is weak). Also, the CPU doesn't usually strike out to the knuckleball, just get bad contact. Oh, even at 99 break, it can still get crushed against good power hitters haha.

I think if I had to do a knuckleballer over again, I would use a running fastball or 2-seamer/cutter combo. One I just don't like the 4 seam fastball (too easy to square up against) and two, wanna keep the CPU unstable with movement on each pitch. But yea, knuckler can be fun but don't expect your best results from him, things can get frustrating and some days the pitch just won't work.

                  Thanks in advance.
1B has the best hitting stats to begin. Make sure to check out all the positions in RTTS and the attributes for each for what you will begin with.

I started a sim-file with the Nationals as a 1B one time and the first time the guy was on the nats roster 2 months into the season replacing an injured player (Nick Johnson?), and the second time they let go of Nick Johnson and the guy was the starting 1B for Nationals by 19.

I think raising your stamina to at least 90 should be one of your first goals after developing your first pitch in AA. AA hitters blow (except the pitchers are all like Tony Gwynn in AA, wtf?) and can hardly hit even the low-overall pitches, so raising your stamina would set you up to pitch not only more QS's, but more CG's. CG SO's are like....250-300 points? Basically, an investment thing.

Ok, I have run a few RTTS's through AA and I have noticed that I average about 7.5 K / 9 innings pitched. I'm trying to improve my personal strikeout ability in this game but what do people average with strikeouts per nine? (Both currently & when you were in AA, etc).

Oh, I play on allstar. I accidently played an RTTS batter on legend yesterday though.....LMAO wow.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Since I have Bronchitis right now and I can't play baseball I thought I would start a new RTTS just as a backup to my CF who plays for the White Sox. So after Deciding between LF and 1b I chose 1B , and after 5 straight days of Gaming my guy was drafted by the Mariners and in July was traded to Minnesota where I absolutley lit up the pitching. After a brief stint in AAA the season came to an end. Next season I was on the bench in AAA but that didn't last long as I became the starter quickly. After a month and a half in AAA I was called up to the MLB. But that lasted briefly where I was replaced (oddly enough I am ranked 2nd in the org. and I was replaced by a guy that was ranked 4th) after a week being sent down to AAA I tore my Achilles Tendon before the All-star Break and did not play for the rest of the year. Starting the new season I am still in AAA but a month later I am get called up where I make an immediate impact my first game I hit 2 Hrs and was a double shy of the cycle ( I play on hall of fame and default sliders) After my first set of goals were finished I replace Justin Morneau in the starting position, which kinda sucks because his hometown is a 15 minute drive from my house.
In Jun of 2011 here are my Major League Stats so far:
                      G:20
                      AB:83
                      H:31
                      AVG:373
                      HR:5
                      RBI:21
                      3B:1
                      2B:5
                      SO:
                      BB:1
I noticed one you hit a home run you feel you should hit and more and just swing from your *** at everything instead of getting more base on balls I hit a lot of choppers which does not help my OBP

LOL, Ok gotcha. I'll make sure to boost those areas when I get points as I've been pretty bad about giving it attention. Don't think I'll even bother trying to hit in my next batting practice either. Also, should I get another shutout I'll make it a point to dump a large amount of points that way. I think I'll just maintain my pitches for now and focus on my /9s and bunting etc.

I had an RTTS once with a Padres pitcher too and I couldn't hit either in AA or AAA. Was like under .100. Maybe its just the Padres and the pitching park stigma goes through the minors as well

I try to make contact once during BP with the pitcher, then I just bunt the other 19. This is especially nice when one of your goals is "improving bunting skills" cause then you can get it out of the way without wasting your points you receive from game and add it to other pitching functions.

Agreed. This is what I do too to a lot of success.

Oh man, Tell me about it. I was having a great first half of the season at like 21 homers. And since the all star break it's like I've lost all my powers and I'll try to turn on a ball and it'll go foul. -_- . I'll be lucky if I can get into the 30/30 club, I only need 3 though with like 2 months left. <_< . With that said, I just had a 2 hr night against Bronson Arroyo of the Reds.
