This isn't a bug. If you only have 1 hit in 10 at bats you will have a .100 batting average, but if you also have 4 walks your OBP will be .500. Hope that helps.

I think he was saying that there are instances where OBP is lower than BA. Which isn't possible, since OBP is computed the same way as BA except that it adds the same number to both the numerator and the denominator which means it must be equal to or higher than BA.

It is a bug. He's saying that in the game, you CAN have a lower OBP than batting average, but in actuality, this can never be the case.

Quint75, I think your post is dead on. A lot of those issues were in 08 as well.

Well I apologize I miss read that. Sorry about that Quint. My bad.

Here is a shot from my first start at AAA after being traded to the Nationals. Took the lose even though I only gave up on run. Lack of run support will do that.

That's an impressive set of numbers and you still managed to keep your pitch count low despite the hits.

Love those twin killings! Every time but in the 8th I got a DP after giving up the single. In the 8th as soon as I gave up the hit I got the hook so I left with one on and the pen didn't do me any favors.

What type of goals do you get as a pitcher on rtts?
This will be the first year i have played the game (when i get it) so i'm intrigued what sort of stuff you get asked to do.

I'll let you know when I get home and play (if no one has chimed in). I don't know my season goals yet, since I only had time to get through spring training with my starting pitcher.

In the games you get stuff like "get ahead in the count", "get a ground ball out", "don't let the run score"...they all make sense given the situations.

I'm digging RTTS on All Star. Spring training roughed me up a bit (as it should) and it seems like they've made pitching a bit harder than last year. Last year I could pinpoint stuff pretty easily, but now I make more mistakes and pay for it big time. It'll make getting to the Show be even more exciting!

quick q, guys. I've always used generic batting stances but I am getting tired of the lack of flair on HR celebrations. Are the batting stances tied in to HR celebrations? If so, I may change my stance to someone like TCQ just to add a change of pace.

In early AA ball, my goals were tied to defense and bunting. Now though they are tied to WHIP, IP, Batting average against and improving my stamina and H/9 so far.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

So I had my first RTTS experience ever last night (just got a ps3 a couple of weeks ago). I'd have to say it certainly passed the clock test - i blinked and it was time to go to bed.

Billy Gilmore is a switchhitting, 18 year old shortstop who can also play some 3B.

I got signed by the Reds and went to spring training with the club, struggling a bit, barely hitting over .200 but fielding OK.

I got sent down to AA where I was splitting time with another SS. I got off to a torrid pace hitting .375 in 8 games before getting promoted to AAA. Not sure how I wasn't even the starter in AA and I go to AAA, but whatever.

So I arrive in Louisville and am basically filling in for the injured AAA starter. I do decently for a month (.250) as the every day SS and batting eight in the lineup, until the starter comes back, and i'm pressed into utility duty.

As a pinch hitter and spot starter I play some 3B and well as RF, and continue to keep my average in the .250 ball park while working on my fielding ability.

Shortly after the All-Star break, after missing some goals (sorry ... with my ratings I wasn't going to hit .330, and if you don't start me I can't make the rating goals) the Reds trade me to the Marlins for a right-handed pitcher.

Considering I was still 6/7 on the SS depth chart in the organization and playing for a horrible team (Louisville was the worst team in AAA), I welcome the move. Plus I'm heading to New Orleans!

My first game with the Zephers I pinch hit in the 9th. With two outs and nobody on I got an inside fastball about belt high, turned on it and hit a laser into the gap - standup double. Down 3-2, the next hitter got a hanging curveball and hit it into the forest behind the left field wall for a walk-off homer.

On a 5-game hit streak and starting to come into my own, in my second at-bat in the next game (starting at SS) I was able to handle a slow and inside slider and put it over the fence for my first home run (I had two others before this but they were during sims).

I ended up finishing the season hitting .272, 5 HRs, about a .700 OPS with 8 errors and a .900-something fielding percentage. I was also able to progress a great deal, i believe 5 overall points, and am currently the 2nd ranked shortstop in the organization (which kind of sucks since SS number one is Hanley Ramirez lol).
If you can read this, you don't need glasses.
