Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Discipline? What is this discipline you speak of? lol
I haven't had a full season in 09 yet, but my guys in 08 used to have like 30 walks a year. I don't have patience. I swing away! lolI see nothing in your eyesAnd the more I see, the less I likeIs it over yet?In my headComment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Lol yeah, I've had so many chances to walk, 3-0, 3-1 count and I get all excited and then swing at a pitch totally out of the zone. My plate discipline is improving, but I do swing on the 1st pitch a lot.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
On my first RTTS in 08, my SP got called up to the majors the day before my advancement goals were up. I was set to easily pass my goals before I got called up. They gave me a new set of goals that were... just beyond unrealistic for a day's work, and of course, I failed them. I was pissed at that! But at least I was in the majors after that, heh.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I just finished my first spring training with a "not-so-impressive" line of .186/.222/.231 (AVG/OBP/SLG). Hopefully I won't have such a tough time in AA.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Yeah, I tend to get roughed up in spring. I finished with an ERA over 8.00, but in the regular season, I have been cruising; 5-1 with an ERA of 3.00.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I am addicted to this game. I created my player, Moose Davis, a 5'10" 195 lb. Outfielder. I started out decent in spring training but finished with a low .240 batting avg. Now in AA I have struggled. I was hitting approximately .170 at a low point and I had to change my approach to batting. I stopped using guess pitch and location and just started focusing on the ball. So far this has paid off big time. I have hit 2 homeruns, drove in 8 runs and raised my average to about .225 in a few games. I am also getting good wood on the ball even though I might be hitting right at people. I am struggling with plate discipline as I still hack a lot, but I am getting better.
This game mode is the main reason I bought this game and man I am loving it.I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!

RTTS progress and an oddity:
Trey Storey, my CF/OF, isn't doing too well. I'm in year 3 and haven't seen the Show yet, nor am I on the 40-man roster. That last bit means no spring training. That, along with the fact that my teams never make the playoffs, is really hampering my progression. I can't improve enough to do well enough to get enough points to spread around, so I'm constantly having to scramble to keep attributes from degrading. It's a vicious cycle.
Still, I'm (very) slowly but surely improving. I figure I'll be a late bloomer; maybe make the majors at 24 or 25.
A weird thing has happened to me a couple times, though. My guy throws lefty, but the CPU manager seems to use him as an all-around utilityman. He got put in once at SS and another time at C, and in both cases was switched to a RH thrower. I guess he's ambidextrous!Comment

Last year I made it in the majors in 1 1/2 years..this year I have a feeling I'll spend at least 2 years in the minors at least.
I'm still slumping..average is at .291 right now. Been over .300 all year.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: RTTS progress and an oddity:
I've bounced back & forth between AA and AAA. I'm currently a part-time starter in AAA, and through the first month or so I'm playing pretty well.
Oh, one thing I forgot in my original post: I've already been traded twice!Comment

Man, what a turnaround after such an abysmal first week.
I'll try post an update tomorrow. I got a picture, but I didn't take any videos, but it's a start.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
This is funny. I started my guy just on a fluke. Had no real intention of even playing more than 20 minutes in RTTS mode and now I'm hooked and reading about all you guys just make it that much better. Sony really has a hit on their hands with this idea.
You guys that got to pitch in the minor league all star did you have uniforms or just your regular gear? I got selected to go but they didn't even use me. The calendar just skipped right on by.
Well I'm off to get a few more games in. Hopefully I'll get promoted before the night is over.

Lightning McQueen is struggling on 'Legend mode' in AA. He's got a below .500 OPS and bating .213.Comment
