Can't say. Jeter hit an easy grounder to CPU Reyes, who bobbled and dropped the ball. By the time he threw to first, Jeter was safe. I don't believe I've ever seen that whole fielding animation sequence before.

EDIT: Whoa! Cano just went into a sitting slide to field a grounder, and he also bobbled/dropped the ball before getting the throw off, resulting in the runner being safe at first. That's two in two innings. I've got my error sliders at 0, so it looks like we might have some actual errors in the game this year.

SECOND EDIT: More fielding goodness: a throwing error by Cano. Nice!

      Re: PS2 Impressions thread

Someone asked if it has 480P. I don't think it does - the manual, box nor specifications on the Sony website has any info on that. In game there is no option other than 16:9 on or off.

I'm playing it on a year old Samsung 46 inch HDTV which has a game mode. Meh, it's ok but I look forward to getting my PS3 console in the mail on the 13th from Dell. If you are on the fence I say get the PS3 because it just looks so outdated on the PS2 compared to the vids I've seen of the PS3 version. If you are going to stick with a PS2 and are on the fence on whether or not to buy it - well Christ it's only $29.99 buy it!

I'm loving it so far, the game just feels like baseball. Played the Dodgers vs Angels and got 2 men on with nobody out. Vladdy steps up and played cat & mouse with Kuroda during a 10 pitch at bat until he finally struck out on a high fastball.

There are some issues, such as during on errant throw to home plate the catcher had to stretch to the right and reach high to get the ball. As he came down he had enough time to tag the runner coming hard to the plate. Instead, he reached down and gave a weak wiff and missed the runner. Seems there are some location issues with the catcher animation. Since these are the most exciting plays in baseball hopefully they can fix it but for now I'll just pretend I didn't see it.

This is the first Show I've played and am still getting used to the controls but so far am having a blast.

In my second game against Santana I'm hitless through 4 innings. I'm now thinking hitting on Legend is tough enough.

You're a better man than me. I'm only playing on All-Star right now. Most hits I've had is 11 and I'm averaging around 8 a game, which feels right.
            Currently Playing:

All-Star has been perfect for me. Just lost another one-run game Royals (me) at Cubs. Was able to get 12 K's with Greinke though.

If you're still rolling with an old CRT TV then I guess PS2 is the way to go. If all you have is HDTV remember older generation consoles look like crap on most of them. Does your HDTV have a 480i setting and a gaming mode? I have a 46 inch HDTV so it's just a waste not to upgrade.

PS2 plays smoother on old CRT TV's because of the resolution issue. I'm actually thinking of keeping the PS2 version and putting a small CRT TV next to the HDTV. That way, I can watch live baseball this year on the HD while gaming on the CRT. If I just want to game then I switch to PS3.

The gameplay will be good either way, if you want graphics go with PS3. Also, from what I understand if you have a slew of PS2 games the PS3 upscales them so they look much better on HDTV's.

I guess I need to get a PS2 slim. All the 09 sports titles I have bought have had frame rate issues on my old fat PS2. I was playing in the new yankee stadium and the CPU hit a double down the line and it felt like MLB 07 all over again with how bad the frame rate got.

Can you guys tell me if there is the roster glitch when going into franchise mode, where you'd edit the roster, save it, then enter franchise mode and it would be different?

Also, do Cubs only play day games on Sundays in franchise mode?(Easy way to see if schedules are messed up)

I love this game. Spent about a half hour with it. King of the Diamond is gone. Didn't play it much anyway. Citi Field looked great. Didn't check out new Yankee Stadium. Pitching seemed a little more challenging and hitting a little less. There seemed to be less foul balls than last year. The menu screen was the only thing that seemed choppy. Loading times seemed a little slower. Only real odd thing was a split second white screen where stadium specific homerun cut scene(apple in N.Y.,bell in Philly) should be. Will check that out again. I also wish SCEA had added a couple classic rock songs, from Sony's vast music library, to the soundtrack. Playing on an old fat boy with no online connection.

Really? and your not seeing any stuttering when the ball is put into play? I wonder why mine is doing this?

I wonder if there is any type of settings on my PS2 that I could change to maybe help this. I gotta be honest...it kinda bugs me and is the only real complaint I have so far.

My old fat PS2 stopped playing the new games a couple of years ago. I think it just depends on how old they are, and they eventually run into the framerate problems. Lame, huh?
