I don't know why, but Gerut put the fear into me during my opening series of the season. That dude can tag the ball for a #2 guy. He took a mistake changeup over the right field wall in the first game and hit a few other balls really hard and after that I was careful with him, lol.

    Baek gave me trouble, too.

And you know who else did? Blanco. He nailed a couple of mistakes on me, one for a HR. I'm also thinking of petitioning the league to outlaw Peavy's slider.

      Re: Studs and Duds

Studs: Kershaw (Complete Game 3 Hit Shutout with 11 K's vs Padres) & Andre Ethier (2 HR's and 8 RBI's through 6 games)

Duds: Orlando Hudson (Cant hit to save my life, and kills every rally I have going), Blake DeWitt (Doesnt play often but when he does he hits into double plays and makes errors in the field, terrible) & James Loney (He has been struggling but he is atleast hitting the ball hard but right at people so his slump should end shortly)

EDIT- Forgot 2 more duds, Broxton is completely hit or miss as a closer and Guillermo Mota has pitched twice and had such an epic meltdown (1.0 IP, 2 Walks, 1 HBP) that I almost edited him to nothing and released him.

Studs: A-Rod, Damon, Posada. These guys have got the bats going and A-Rod and Posada have gone deep several times each. Damon is a good contact guy that has been getting more doubles and stealing bases.

Duds: Chien Ming-Wang, and Bruney lately. Both of these guys just have not had a good outing thus far. Last game Wang couldn't get the ball past anyone for a third strike. They were making good contact on him, luckily most of it was to infielders or the the outfielders.

Xavier Nady has been doing pretty good as well but he was tossed out of the game after being thrown out at first in his first at bat.

Duds: Kotchman and Kelly Johnson. Johnson is hitting .000 after 8 games.

You'd have a better chance with an old rosin bag. Don't be greedy now.

I came out of SD 1-2 in that first series. I'm just glad to get out of petco. I was playing from behind the whole series. Add my whole pitching staff to the duds list. Bills has an ERA below 3 and Brox has 2 saves in 2 attempts. Besides those 2, everyone else in the pen stinks.

                      But, it's still early.

                        Re: Studs and Duds

Awesome Thread! I'll be the first Indians franchise...

All Star - Mostly Default Sliders (only moved one or two)

Studs - Victor Martinez has been clutch and through 12 games, has 3 HRs and 11 RBIs. Aaron Laffey has been surprising as my no. 4 starter...he is 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA. Joe Smith is a solid addition to the bullpen...4 appearances so far 0.00 ERA.

Duds - Mark DeRosa trade has been worthless, I think he only has 2 hits and he is in my two-hole. Hafner still isn't his old self and thinking about moving him down in the lineup or trade (need to call up LaPorta who I added in the game). Cliff Lee has been getting rocked and I have no control with him for some reason.

I'm 7-5 and second in the Central...but the White Sox are 9-2 so I got some work to do.
                        The Buckeyes WILL prevail!

I felt the same way about Petco. Peavy is my nemesis.

I've had bullpen issues as well, with the exception of Kuo and Broxton. Brox has 3 saves in 6 games, lol. I'm gonna need to win some games outright and give him a rest.

Okay, so I've started a billion franchises already, but the one I have going with the Red Sox deserves mention.

Stud #1: Manny del Carmen. Dude inherited a bases-loaded situation with no outs in a one run game. He proceeded to strike out the first batter he faced, force a pop out to the 1B in the 2nd AB, and strike out the 3rd.

Stud #2: Youk. The following inning Pedroia got on, Papi got out, and Youk took a hanging slider over the Monster to bring the lead to 3.
