Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
At least, we can all agree it was a very, VERY smart decision by SCEA to implement this feature. The extra coin being made will surely make the big-wigs happy.Comment

Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
Somewhat sidebar question. If I buy RTTS points for a player, can I use them again if I delete the RTTS and start over with another created player?
As far as buying points, I can see it for somethings like speed. Speed is not something that is "learned" in the minor leagues. You can train and get a little faster, but it's unrealistic to have a guy start out as 45 speed (example) and work his way up to 70-80.Comment

I believe that the RTTS points you buy are limited to the character you bought them for.Somewhat sidebar question. If I buy RTTS points for a player, can I use them again if I delete the RTTS and start over with another created player?

If you delete that player, the points (and money you spend) disappear.
I don't have a problem with that, as long as the upcoming patch doesn't force me to restart my RTTS. If it does, I expect the points to carry over. (It's not so much the amount -- I've only spent 5 bucks -- but the principal of the thing)Comment

Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
You can just buy them while in your RTTS, don't know where you would find them if bought early, probably there.
All I would want is that when I create my guy, allow me to place those attribute points as I wish. Not +5 and I can't do anything. If I want to boost my speed to 99 then let me, everything else suffers and have to work on that. If I want my power to be huge, again let me put those starting points where I want.
I want to create MY prospect, allow me to create MY guy how I want.Comment

Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
I think we're on the same page here now. What a coach expects and what it will take to advance and improve are 2 different things. Sure he might have a different schedule to follow but what it takes to advance will not be changed, period. Thats like having a low rated player get hurt and because of the injury he is allowed to progress easier than a non injured player.
Injuries do not automatically make the training required and skill needed to become a better player to lower. Period.
So in the case of an injury in The Show I agree that the goal should be lowered etc.. but that should also mean the time it takes to get to the next level increases.
In any case it's a game and play it like you want. We all paid the 60.00 or whatever. I choose to make it a challenge to get to "The Show" while others want to get there "Right now" with little to no work.. so be it.
It is just a video game..just have fun!
Peace!
I think if you get injured, it should alter your goals but also increase the time it takes to get to the big leagues. I don't want to spend my points and then get called up the next day. At the same time, I don't want to suffer an injury, get sat down for two weeks, then get told by the manager that I'm not doing anything to improve myself so he's putting me on the bench or sending me down to the previous level.
If I'm playing my games and just not doing well, I'm not gong to be spending points to artificially boost my stats. God no. If I'm playing well and using the points I earn to keep my ratings from dropping down, and the game tells me I have to improve an attribute that makes absolutely no sense at all, then yes, I'll spend some loose change just to appease the CPU Manager and prevent my player from artificially dropping in ratings just because the AI thinks my catcher should be stealing 80 bases.
Still having fun with my catcher though. Up in the big leagues for good and playing well as a catcher for the Reds. Would like to be a Yankee, but at least I can say my first big league HR came against the Red Sox up in Fenway.
Once free agency hits, the Reds will have to show me that they are trying to compete in the NL Central, or I'm taking off for a team that is in contention each year. I want to play in the World Series.

Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
I find it amusing that the NCAA college football game has numerous of these types of things put in, like buying pipeline states for recruiting, etc, and people flame EA saying how pathetic it is that they're trying to make extra money. 90% of the anger is directed at EA for making it possible. The Show does the same thing more or less, and no one criticizes them for it, it's the people who use it who are getting flamed. Just an observation I find amusing.Comment

Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
I see nothing wrong with it as long as the use of these additional items doesn't impact any type of online ranking system or something. In those cases, I think it's wrong to give those with extra funds the ability to "buy" a better ranking. The way it's being done by SCEA is pretty nice. You don't "need" it to play your game, and if you want you can use them to deal with what you may think are some frustrating issues with the way the AI is programmed.
In the future, I think it would be great if when you create your player in RttS, you can choose a style of player. Whether that's a hard throwing pitcher (so you end up with greater stats in regards to pitch speed), a finese guy (so you have better control, but less power), a slugger (so you have more strikeout tendencies, but greater power), contact guy, glove man, speedster, etc. I think it would also be incredible if you could choose to randomly decide the caliber of prospect you are. If you're a highly touted prospect, you start with much better stats and may even be invited to spring training that first year if you're drafted by a team lacking in your position. If you wind up as a mediocre type prospect, you'd end up in AA but it doesn't mean you'll be a poor player. Look at Mike Piazza. He only got drafted as a favor to Tommy Lasorda. He didn't start out as a top level guy, but he ended up as a catcher that you could hold a debate on his HOF status for.
(Oh yeah, this is post #666. <devil horns>

Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
Haha well EA sends that type of vibe where its all about the money. Its like if a girl whose considered a whore has sex with a guy, everyone will hear about it and go oh God, that chick is such a slut, then some girl who isn't considered a whore does the same thing everyone goes oh, ok.I find it amusing that the NCAA college football game has numerous of these types of things put in, like buying pipeline states for recruiting, etc, and people flame EA saying how pathetic it is that they're trying to make extra money. 90% of the anger is directed at EA for making it possible. Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
Im thinking I might buy some and use them for things like speed and arm strength or something. not every player starts as a slow noodle arm. I will not use it for the "ability" attributes though that is what should be worked on during the season, but the natural ablities like speed and stuff I dont see it as cheating for that.Comment

Re: 30,000 RTTS points?!?!
Just Juiced up with 2000 points for my power. Third year called up to the bigs and the ball just wasnt travelling off the bat. Decided the best way to get the ball travelling was to Juice. real players get that comfort so why shouldnt I??Comment
