Just two quick things Mr. Russel:

    Pitching:

Change the pitching meter for an interface similar (or exactly like it) to MLB 2K10. It feels GREAT to pitch like that! It feels MUCH more immersive and the pitching less "dull".

    Hitting:

About the hitting, here is a VERY DIFFERENT sugestion:
take a look at the batting system on MLB POWER PROS! Yes i said it! As arcade as that game looks, the batting interface was AWESOME!

I'd like fielding to mimic MVP 2005. Instead of just pushing up or down on the right stick, you need to actually push in the direction where the ball is.

For instance, if it's a grounder to the left of me, I will need to push the analog stick to the left and not just down like it is now.

I'd also like it if base running was as easy as MVP 2005. Have the d-pad control your runner on base. No other button needed. For instance, I have a guy on 1st and 2nd and there is a fly ball and I want to tag up only the guy on 2nd, I simply push up on the d-pad and he takes off. The guy at first won't go anywhere. Simple.

It's never a bad idea to have some more options for control mechanics. It's a nice way to make the game feel fresh, since there's really only so much that can be done to a baseball game in terms of its feel every year.

dear god no! having played lots of 2k, and mvp (the college baseball games), i have to say, analog controls although in theory seem to be more realistic, because it is more motion.. but, they feel very much like the old arcade games, that let you pull back and release the bat.

          not just blowin smoke..

the simple hit of the button i find works perfectly. moving your thumb forward just to pull it back for a check swing is nearly impossible. you cant swing your thumb up halfway.. i really strongly disliked the analog controls for 2k, which is, believe it or not, a bigger reason why i bought a ps3 and got the show. also a big reason why im kinda glad mvp got killed before it did, even though it was an excellent game.. they were going the way of the analog stick.. thats a deal breaker for me (trust me i gave it a shot).

i like option but i am not for option if it sacrifices focus on what already makes the game great. i tink analog works for casual baseball gamers, on par with the wii controls for the bigs..

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?

I honestly don't have any interest in analog pitching or hitting. However, as long as the current options are in the game, I think a lot of people would enjoy it.

The only change I would make to the current hitting system would be to visually see the bat move to different locations when aiming to hit outside, inside, up, down, etc. Nothing major, just a minor change in the swing plane. Also, but this goes more for animations, I would like to see different swing types for select players, than can be used in the editor. So basically, you'd be able to choose our batter's stance like we can now, and then also choose swing type.

I would like to see more player control while fielding. Most of the time the CPU does the diving and fielding for the player. How about an option were the user has to hit a button at a certain point before the player fields the ball, based on the players attributes(fielding area size) and timing of the user hitting the button the ball is fielded smoothly or not, causes an error, or is not in position to make a strong throw.

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?

Yes. Definitely. I didn't buy past versions and almost didn't buy this one because of the lack of analog controls. I don't think it can ever hurt to provide the *option* to use analog controls. MVP 07 NCAA Baseball probably has the best analog batting controls. The controls are responsive enough that when you pull back on the stick, you can actually check swing. Perfecting the the different levels of check swings(from flinching, to not crossing the plane, to almost crossing the plane, to completely crossing the plane)are important to having the swing stick make sense. Of course the responsiveness of the controls to your motion would have to be pretty tight. The left stick still being used to guide swing direction would also make sense.

As far as pitching, my favorite scheme was in MLB 2K8 where the gesture speed was tied to the pitch motion(though the 'meatball' pitches were very imbalanced). It seems that this was done away with in MLB 2K10, in favor of doing the gesture before the pitch motion, which kinda makes every pitcher feel the same. I did not like the MVP 07 pitch meter in which the analog was used to time the pitch meter.... I found that kind of pointless; you might as well use buttons for that.

Yes! Go for it! I would like to see this in the future. It's a win - win situation as long as you leave the current game play style in your future installments.

You guys do an excellent job of the game. Go ahead and take the chances by offering to a greater audience. This helps keep the game fresh.

Oh, and if you could PM me a link to your HR department, I would love to help with any part of any of your team's project.

I love this years game but I also had a chance to sample "the other game" and I have to say that that once you get into a few innings of it, the pitching can be really fun.
If The Show does introduce analog next year, they should def. leave the old options, or "classic", in the game just in case people dont't get accustomed to the analog system.
I personally have never liked the analog batting system in any baseball game, but thats just me.

Analog pitching is what is needed in this great game. Pitching that simulates real life pitching with the analog seems like the future of gaming to me. Gets you more involved.

i think something like that would improve The Show's PCI system a lot

I have no problem with the current system, but I would not be opposed to an analog option for fielding and pitching. I loved the analog fielding of MVP 06.

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?

Much like alot of people, I feel the pitching could use the analog option. In 2K's game, the pitching is the best part. I'm sure you guys could one-up them on an analog pitching system, though there's is pretty good with the gestures and whatnot.

Please leave the hitting alone though. I never found the analog hitting system very intuitive. I've always been a fan of The Show's hitting system, especially with the seperate buttons for Power and Contact, but not nerfing too much of a hitter's power when using the Contact swing. In 2K, if you swing with Contact, it seems your power is at 50% of your potential. Where in The Show, the Power swing just seems to add to your power, like giving it 110% so to speak lol. I would, however, LOVE to see you guys implement something like the Hitter's Eye from MVP 05. I hate having to drop the Pitch Speed slider just because I can't read the pitch quickly enough. Hitter's Eye was awesome, especially how better pitchers wouldn't tip off their pitches till the last minute.

Fielding? I'm indifferent. I find The Show's fielding to be more than adequate and throwing with the buttons doesn't bother me. Yes, the "idea" of aiming your throw with the analog stick is cool in thoery, but I prefer to let the player's ratings control their throws more than my input on the stick. The throwing meter, with this year's tweaks you guys made, is just about perfect. Still prefer MVP 05's ever so slightly, as on their throwing meter, the green accuracy part would move up or down the meter based on that player's Throwing Accuracy rating so in thoery, a guy with better accuracy could throw it at 100% power more consistently than another guy with lower Accuracy. But truthfully, your throwing system is just fine the way it is and I think you guys have the pre-loading system virtually perfect. I'd hate to see it compromised in some way because of an implementation of an unnecessary change.

In summary, Pitching needs an overhaul badly, hitting is perfect save for a "Hitter's Eye" system and Fielding/Throwing seems like it could be a "one step forward, two steps back" scenario if you mess around with it too much. Definitely though, if you're going to implement stuff, make it all an OPTION, not mandatory.
