This is probably an issue with downloaded rosters because if you play with the def. rosters it won't freeze.

Again, not true.....I play with the stock rosters, with a few edits, and created players, and I too am getting the freeze.

Had this happen last night for the first time as well. D-pad only for me from now on.

YES. Always, always, always, when I'm winning for whatever reason.

          It's maddening.

            Okay then.

But this never used to happen the first week the game came out...This had to come from the patch.

The online freeze crossed over to Franchise mode.

If you turn on warm up pitchers, you can put them right into the game and warm them up a bit. Maybe a workaround? It is the only solution i can think of.

Happened to me for the first time tonight. Funny thing is, first the cpu screwed up the double-switch and put my outfielder in to pitch. When I went to fix it, the remainder of the game played with the bullpen overlays on screen!

But the game ended okay. After the wrap up, the game froze. The camera just kept panning the stadium.

                FRUSTRATING...

NEVER had that happen before. What's going on?!

                  Hey guys,

Did anyone ever come up with a solution for this? It's been happening ever since the last patch.

It looks like our best bet is to steer clear of the pause menu when trying to access the bullpen. I've yet to experience a freeze after going to the bullpen through the d-pad.

Unfortunately, the old habit of going through the pause menu manages to screw me over about once every few games. It's frustrating because it always happens late in games when you're doing the most bullpen management. If only I could rig my DS3 to shock me every time I hit the pause button... that would probably break the habit.

He quoted what I posted regarding the FA screen freeze in SEASON mode with the 25 man roster instead of the 40 man roster after spring training, not a pause screen freeze.

I've never had the CPU mess up a double switch. Did it put the guy who was pinch hitting in to pitch? Were you trying to double switch with him? Wife is watching t.v., but I can explain what you might have messed up, if so. Just have to crank up the game.

There are two ways the pitcher substitution is handled. I think what happened to you was this....for example.

I pinch hit with Blum for Byrdak, Arias up in the bullpen.

When the inning was over a screen titled POSITION PLAYER ON THE MOUND pops up
and asks "if you want to leave Blum in, swap his position in the DEFENSIVE
SUBSTITUION menu before bringing in a new pitcher".

You continued and saw the bullpen screen and backed out showing Blum (just using him as an example) on the mound. You then would have had to take the other steps to get him off the mound. Next time ignore the POSITION PLAYER ON THE MOUND screen and put a relief pitcher in. THEN you will be asked if you want to leave Blum in the game. If you choose to it will ask you to pick a position for him. I swapped him for Matsui, game continued with the proper players in the game.

The other way is if you don't want Blum in the game, just make the move to bring in the new pitcher and it will guide you through the double switch and you can bring in whoever you want.

Don't know if this covers it all, but it may explain why you wound up with a position player on the mound. Certainly could be a little less confusing. We wanted to be able to bring a pitcher straight into the game without pausing it and we got it this year. Maybe next year this will be cleared up a bit.

I had the exact same problem (as the first post), and as bad as it sounds I am glad I am not alone in this problem. I had it happen twice in a row against the Angels in my Indians franchise. I just use the D-Pad now always, I am even hesitant to just pause the game for anything.
