Re: Cubs users/fans
Why do the Cubs always pick up guys that strikeout so much? I'd rather have Ryan Theriot playing 1st than Carlos Pena. So, I'm going to look to find anyone but Pena to play 1st and I'll probably trade Pena or just let him go. High strikeout guys have no place in my lineup.
I'm probably going to have Fukudome, Byrd, and Colvin in the OF as I hate Soriano. I hope power doesn't dominate like in previous games in the series as players with high power and low contact can hit over .300 easy in this game, the power attribute has far too much influence.Comment

But it is a video game.... it won't replicate real life baseball. Soto might go 4 for 4 in real life and hit into 3 double plays for you.
I don't get the translation at all. I have no problem with it and it sounds like fun but I guess I just don't understand the logic behind it other than just seeing how the matchups unfold in the game vs real life I guess.Comment

Re: Cubs users/fans
This is true and I may do just that. I'll have to see how each guy is rated defensively when the game comes out. I could always put Byrd out there but his OPS was fourth on the team among the outfielders at season's end.Comment

In some ways I agree, in others I do not. I am with you with Soriano, the sooner he is out of town the better. Why do the Cubs always pick up guys that strikeout so much? On Pena, I liked the deal in real life. He has potential to hit a lot of home runs (something our lineup was lacking) and he plays solid defense. Sure we overpaid but it was only for one year. If he has a great year we have an option to keep him, if not he is gone and next offseaosn we go for a more long-term solution at 1b (Prince Fielder or Albert Pujols HOPEFULLY). In the game we will see, he could be a force at Wrigley.
I am very excited for next off-season, we are going to have a lot of money to spend. Hopefully we don't have any Soriano-type 8 year deals. I think Hendry learned his lesson with that one.Comment

Ok, so we agree and disagree. We disagree in that seeing Pujols in a Cubs jersey would make me sick. Agree in school selection--Let's go Western! hahaIn some ways I agree, in others I do not. I am with you with Soriano, the sooner he is out of town the better.

Re: Cubs users/fans
lol has there ever been 2 leatherneck avatars in 1 thread on OS? I think we just made history.
Don't tell me you are a Cards fan though. That will ruin this special moment.Last edited by _mg_; 02-15-2011, 06:51 PM.Comment

Re: Cubs users/fans
If he plays at or about the same level that he did in The Show 10, I think you will be quite pleasantly surprised. I traded for him on my A's franchise and he turned out to be a number 3 hitter, putting up about a 290-310 average and near 40 home runs and 100+ RBI's a year. And his defense eliminated the "under the glove" issue people complained about all year. Have fun with him.In some ways I agree, in others I do not. Re: Cubs users/fans
haha I've never seen another one since I've been on the site actually, so two back to back like this is a purple & gold overload. But yeah I guess all good moments must come to an end...Cards, Rams, Blues fan--the whole St. Louis sports thing I guess you could say. I'm not one to bash the Cubs though, it makes the rivalry better when both teams are good.
To answer the topic though, I think the Cubs are an interesting team on the Show. I never had much luck with Garza in the past because he has control issues, but he'll be fine. Wood for $1.5 mil is a steal and locks down the 8th. Pena is a beast on the game, as are most all power-no contact guys(Giambi, Gomes, and Branyan are guys that have torn the cover of the ball for me before). So, yeah from a game standpoint I think the Cubs are much better.Last edited by catch212; 02-15-2011, 09:09 PM.Comment
