No interest at all in 3D. Besides my not being able to see the effect, it's one of those thirty year fads that people try to rally around only to fall flat on their faces. People who have bought these sets might as well burn their life savings.

For those that are saying this is a fad ... What planet do you live on ? Must be nice this time of year ? ... Anyway I will play some games in 3D because it is a great technology ... It is not a fad and will only get better . They said the same thing about HD and look what happened ..
It still is new so only time will tell ..Comment

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
So since you cant see the affect those that bought one wasted their money? Also, like me, im sure there are plenty of purchasers who have the money to spend and its not a waste. I dont drink Or really have much of any vices and that along with saving my money wisely allows me to drop $ when I want.
I'll never understand the "i dont want it or have it, so I'll dog it" posts.
The Wii fad seems to be going strong.....
In either case even if 3D doesnt make it i still needed a TV and its still a very nice 2D set.Last edited by Skyboxer; 02-27-2011, 11:17 PM.Joshua:

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
can we please stop trying to convince each other that 3D is the way to go (or not)
i don't care about 3D and not NOT A SINGLE ONE OF YOU is going to convince me that it's better than 2D 1080p.
Likewise, no one that has spend big bucks on a 3DTV is going to listen to anyone that says they wasted their money.
And I doubt it's financial constraints preventing people from going 3D. I just got a TV in November, a 1080p Panny plasma (going for $2500 but managed to get it for less than $2000), I could have gotten a 3D TV for $1700, but the 2D picture quality was miles ahead on the Panny, as opposed to the 3D.
I've found that at similar price levels, 2D trumps 3D in picture quality.
Now enough of this whole debate, everyones entitled to their own opinion, like others have said, let's leave it at that...Comment

Well to be fair it pretty much always the non 3d people trying to prove 3d is a waste. The thread was asking who was gaming in 3D not "who wasnt and why".can we please stop trying to convince each other that 3D is the way to go (or not)

I have never said anyone should go get 3d but rather i was in market for a tv so i just got a 3D set. In fact Ive said it wasnt worth it IMO to get one just for 3D.
Dont want one dont get one, simple as that. No one is trying to convince anyone one way or another. Just seems we can never have a conversation without a "i dont like it so it sucks" type posts.Last edited by Skyboxer; 02-27-2011, 11:34 PM.Joshua:

Randy, when the full version comes out let me know how the 3D compares to the 10 3D demo. I played that at my parents over the holidays but would like to know how much better the depth and quality are in an actual game.
I played GT5 and Black Ops as well but am also thinking that NCAA could be coming out in 3D this year. Since I am going to be in the market for a new set would like your impressions. Thanks in advance man

So far in the demo i'm not seeing the depth i was hoping for or described from CD as far as the whole field goes but I havent really messed with my settings much since it was demo. Thats the first thing I'll be on when I get retail copy.Joshua:

Not for me-
I can't see myself putting glasses on to watch tv, let alone play a video game...I dunno, I just don't like the feeling.

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
Findinghomer, here's my completely honest view after playing the Show 11 demo in 3D a lot. I never got to play the 2010 demo in 3D, so I can't compare it to how the 2011 demo looks. Overall, I'm fairly pleased with how the game looks in 3D and will probably end up playing about half of my games in 3D.
The reason I'll go back and forth is there is a very noticeable drop in clarity. For example, in 2D, Lincecum's hair has pointy strands that stick out on the sides and add a lot of detail. In 3D you barely notice it. Also, textures look a little blurry during gameplay. Not much, but just enough to notice things you never saw before when switching back to 2D. The frame rate is also a tiny bit more smooth in 2D, but overall the game still performs remarkably well in 3D. I also feel like the devs could have pushed more depth into the game in certain shots. Overall, it feels a little conservative. The last negative is the common misconception that 3D will allow you to see the ball coming towards you when batting. Honestly, this is not the case at all, at least for me. Others may disagree and think they see a difference, but the only time the ball comes at me is after a foul tip to the screen. I am holding out hope that the issues with limited depth were addressed post demo, but from what I understand the 3D was completed early on in development.
Having said all that, when the 3D works, it adds SO much immersion to the game. From the catcher views, the stadium really looks amazing and it feels like the outfield wall really is 400 feet away. The shots where you foul the ball off into the stands look amazing as you see it shoot away from you. Fielding also looks great as you can see the ball clearly flying high off the ground. The boats in the water are cool to see outside the stadium. I can't wait to see the ballparks with city skylines beyond the outfield.
Anyways, I hope this was all informative for you and makes it easier to decide whether or not to invest in a 3D TV. Since I already have one, the decision comes down to what's more important to me? The razor sharp clarity and vibrancy of the 2D picture, or the immersive depth of 3D? Because honestly, both look equally impressive, but for different reasons.Comment

Very nice!
- I haven't read anyone's review on the Demo in 3D ...good read. I definitely want to test it out, but I don't plan on purchasing a 3D TV anytime in the next few months...maybe down the road.
3D gaming seems like an exceptional attribute for FPS's and RPG's, but will it be a success in sports gaming or will it crumble like the "minidisc" did?
Makes you think.

3D doesn't give me headaches, it just really hurts my eyes, whenever I go to a 3D movie I have to take the glasses off like every 10 minutes. I don't ever plan on gaming in 3D. I actually hope the fad continues and brings the prices of HDTVs down though, then I could get a better (bigger) one.Comment

I have not intrest in anything 3D. I think 3d will fade just like it did years ago. Anyone remember Jaws being in 3D? I do... And it was lame back then too.Moderator
