I don't know if anyone would even know this, but why were the "Spring Training/Batting Practice Hats" with the white (or 'off' colored) stripes made? I don't remember seeing them around until the last few years, and I know they made several uniforms looked downright silly if you wanted a colored top but the team's natural uni's didn't have them (like the Dodgers, Cardinals, etc.).

Just wondering.

Also, I love the Wiki page with the uni's, but does anyone know for sure that all of these "individual parts" (ie, each hat, each jersey, each pants) will be in the game? I know we can make our own stylized combos, but I wonder if some of the "parts" will be left out or if Wiki has the DEFINITIVE combos that will be available in-game.

A great example is the Colorado Purple. Last year's game did NOT have that one as a choice, even though it was on the Wiki page as one of the uniforms they use.

(ps- am I sick that I have it as a link on my toolbar to get to that 'wonderful' wikipedia page of baseball uniforms?)

Just like Wikipedia in general, their pages are not always correct. I know that it shows the Jays black alternate with white pants only, when they wear them on the road with grey pants too.

Most of them are correct for getting reference though.

It's the same with the Astros home red alternate. I hasn't been in the game in the last 3 years.

On March 8, I'm going to be snapping pictures from The Show of every hat, jersey and pant every team has and add it to the table. This way, the table cannot be misread.

I'll be doing this before I even play a single game.

I believe the Rangers also wear the ALT 1 red jerseys whenever they're hosting the Angels. They like to own the red while the Angels come to town.

I noticed in the game that the Ranger's H-ALT pants have players wearing blue socks where they should be Red to coincide with the H-Alt Red Jersey- as pictured in the post quoted. Wonder if this can be fixed??? Good idea for this thread, btw.

Yeah, I noticed the sock thing too. That was really disappointing as Murphy and Kinsler both wear their socks like real ballplayers.

I know a thing or two about uniforms. The Rangers go by this:

Blue Hat- Blue Jersey- White Pants: Home games (pitcher's choice)
Red Hat- Red Jersey- White Pants: Home games (pitcher's choice- against the Angles, Astros, and yankees. Also on many American holidays)
Red Hat- White Jersey- White Pants: Opening weekend (very rare)
Blue Hat- Grey Jersey- Grey Pants: Road games (pitcher's choice)
Blue Hat- Blue Jersey- Grey Pants: Road games (pitcher's choice)

Info on the A's

Home games aways white pants and green/gold hats, the jersey is chosen by the Pitchers it can be the white one, the new gold or evan the green away alternate, quite rare though

Away games aways grey pants and all green hats, jersey can be the traditional grey or the dark green alternates, also pitchers choice.

Things I need specifically clarified:
D-backs red jersey?
O's blacks are worn on all Fridays?
Indians blue worn on Tuesdays on the road as well?
White Sox blacks - Random?
KC's Royal blues - Random? Baby blues are worn on Sundays?
What hat will the M's wear on their new green jerseys? Are these only worn at home?

It's even more disappointing because I've been watching a ton of 2010 games on my MLB.TV free trial, and there isn't a single road game where the Jays wear their 'J' cap that I've found. 'T' cap, all the time. They even wear the 'T' cap at home sometimes!

Tampa Bay Rays:

Home standard: White jersey/white pants/blue TB hat
Home alt 1: Navy top/white pants/blue TB hat
Home alt 2 (All Sunday games): Light blue top/white pants/blue TB hat

Road standard: Gray jersey/gray pants/blue TB hat
Road alt: Navy top/gray pants/blue TB hat

They do the TBTC thing and wear the old Devil Rays unis once a year or so.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Usually, the Dodgers are the most traditional team when it comes to uniform selections. They seldom wear an alternative jersey whether it be home or away. But this year, the Dodgers will wear a 1940s style Brooklyn Dodger uniform. The following information is from the Dodgers.com website.

After nearly 50,000 votes, this uniform edged out the 1911 Road option by less than 2,000 votes. Though the original uniform worn in the 1940s was made of a highly reflective satin fabric to make it more visible under the lights for night games, the 2011 throwback jerseys will be made of the same material and maintain the same feel as those worn by the Dodgers throughout the season. The jerseys will be available for purchase by fans at Dodger Stadium beginning on the first date they are worn, April 21, when the Dodgers welcome Atlanta to Chavez Ravine. That date marks the anniversary of the franchise's first victory, which also came against the Braves in 1890.
