Re: doesn't get dark fast enough in night games?
Well as a Dodger fan most of the night home games start at 7:10 PM. The sun is pretty much gone by 8 and an hour into the game it is usually what? The 3rd or 4th inning.
If I play an exhibition night game at Dodger Stadium there is no reason why the sun should still be up after the 5th inning unless the game started at 5:00 PM or something.Comment

So you are telling me, 8PM it is completely dark, mid summer in "Sunny" California?Well as a Dodger fan most of the night home games start at 7:10 PM. The sun is pretty much gone by 8 and an hour into the game it is usually what? The 3rd or 4th inning.

I somehow think it is no different east coast or west coast as to when it gets dark, maybe a variable of minutes on the seconds.
The game is dynamic in season. It gets darker EARLIER early in the season, LATER, mid summer, back to EARLIER in the Fall.
They did it correct. Exhibition is just to show off the maximum graphical progression, since baseball is a "summer sport".Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: doesn't get dark fast enough in night games?
I agree, but this is only speaking from the demo.
Last year they didn't need to keep the twilight sky out longer, they just needed to add in more transitional skies where it starts to become pitch black. In fact, I'm not sure if the demo is an indication, but this year it doesn't seem to reach that pitch black sky anymore (might just have to do with it being a cloudy night sky). Last year there weren't really any dark blue tones as it would transition to black, this year they kind of have it.
So I don't even know which is better, but this year's is certainly prettier. I sure hope they work on the transitions for next year though, because IMO they still have a long way to go (and in some ways they went backwards).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: doesn't get dark fast enough in night games?
I've been to many Dodger games during the Summer. There is no way the sun is ever still shining in the 7th inning. Just no way. Like I said, it is always dark by around the 4th inning, 5th at the latest. So you are telling me, 8PM it is completely dark, mid summer in "Sunny" California?

Re: doesn't get dark fast enough in night games?
Instead of calling it an "inning" why not say times?
Cause I been to many games at the "longer than normal" Fenway for game times... and it was still light in the 7th.

Depends on how the scoring and game rhythm is going. I see no issue personally.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: doesn't get dark fast enough in night games?
I just think they went about how it "stays light longer" the wrong way. Instead of adding more transitions before it hits its darkest moment, they decided to add different kinds of twilight skies. Yet, the few batters/pitches whatever before it hits its darkest moment, it still makes some rather drastic jumps. I think that's where they could use some serious additions (again, with that "dark blue" sky).
For example, where's this sky?

Several batters before it probably looked more like this:
And after several batters it would probably start to look like this:

But two innings before it looked a lot more like this:

But the point is, in the game it kind of takes these different skies (not these exact same ones) and skips from one to the next within a span of three or four batters. Instead of stretching this section out, they stretched out the beginning of the game, making the jumps when it hits its pitch black moment much more obvious because it's so quick.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Anyone else think that the blades of grass are the wrong colour of green when it's raining during the 5th inning at Camden yards.........Comment

You know, I was going to mention that, but I do not think they are cutting them at the right angle in the game, compared to RL!

if you have nothing to add, then don't bother to post in the thread. Simple as that. Obviously some people are discussing the topic maturely. Follow their lead. It's not hard.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Seriously, if you see all these hypothesis' being thrown about, it just goes to show that lighting is obviously NOT an exact science... thus not an easy thing to perfect. Also, any real life comparison pics are not a good ruler, because the stadium lights give a more perceived darkness than in the game. Also, time zones are not exact, so when it gets dark in some places isn't the same in others (granted, it is darker at 8:30pm in LA than it is at 8:30pm in NY... due to both longitudinal and latitudinal locations) - see, more hypothesising. Like I said, funny the things we debate about the game... definitely goes to show how quality it is; to the point we are discussing alignment of celestial bodies LOL.
That said, they absolutely have the cut pattern direction wrong at OB@CY

I think we can all agree, no matter how insane we get with pictures and real life accounts, that the lighting, it's look, it's skies, it's progression is a major leap over last year. And I am loving every minute of it.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
