    Way to go Heroes!!

The other really cool thing you will get with your new approach, is that you will get more backwards K's, as the cpu hitters will be geared up for a fastball, and the offspeed stuff just locks them up.

So watch for some new personal bests on looking strikeouts, as you are learning to set the hitters up, and set them down!!

    Nice work, keep it up!

I agree, great stuff in this thread guys. Keep it up.

I would just like to mention one thing, relating to the release point on your pitchers. I use classic to pitch, and have been trying to pay attention to what i am actually doing on the days when things are working.

I have been trying to determine how to throw that little bit more consistantly, hoping to reduce my hanging pitches. Note, this applies mostly to breaking pitches, though it seems every 2SFB that is up has left the park lately (which is entirely my fault...i am a slow learner sometimes.)

Anyways, I have been experimenting with connecting effort levels to the pitchers command/confidence with each particular pitch. So if a pitcher has high confidence in a pitch (the bar is 75% full), i try to limit the effort on that pitch to approx. 75%. The opposite as well, a low confidence pitch (25% full bar) would only get a 25% effort. This is relatively hard to determine with the way classic and the button presses go, but that is what i was trying.

Using a SL as an example. Early in the game, with a high confidence from the warm ups, throwing higher effort gave me more break. So if you were able to throw a mid-effort SL early in the count for a strike, then throwing a high-effort SL later, usually resulted in that pitch being just a few inches farther outside and hopefully resulting in a K or at least a weakly hit ball.

Later in the game, with that same pitcher and SL, he's had it knocked around a couple times and his confidence in it dropped to 25%. You don't want to abandon it completely, but are scared of a hanger. Generally I won't try it in any sort of a dangerous count, but that get-me-over tap will do the trick if you have set up the pitch well. Too much effort, as far as i have discovered, leads to the pitch 'backing up' or is very 'Up', becoming that pitch that "lights up the hitters eyes". Usually this is a hard hit ball, but sometimes I get lucky and it ties the hitter up. No matter the outcome of the pitch though, I try not to throw that same low confidence pitch twice in the same at bat unless the first one really fooled the hitter.

While I have been paying attention to the breaking pitches, the fastballs are another matter (perhaps), but I still feel a little in the dark with them. One thing I do though is try to never throw back-to-back pitches with the same effort level. All in all, i love the mix of games in this years version. You are on cruise control one inning, edge-of-your-seat the next.

I just realized Carter actually leads the league in strikeouts (as of yesterday), in real life! - pretty cool.

And this game has become even more fun... What I learned from you guys have really taught me about pitching and changed the way I play this game...
