    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

    5-16 in my Astros Franchise.

I started 1-12 (ouch). I just won a game 10-9 over Cincy where TWELVE homers were hit (six by me, six by CIN; should I look into sliders, or do I need to pitch better?)

I'm having a ton of fun, but leading a game 9-1 and 10-2...only to see my lead die almost is alarming.

i think your fine i have had the same thing. sometimes they just hang curveballs and sliders and if you can sit on them they goto the fast ball and you can pound it. but that usually happens for pitchers that are in the bottom tier, but then with a guy like felix hernandez on the hill i was SHUT DOWN i got like 4 hits off him

Thinking about starting an Orioles chise today with OSFM OD rosters. Anyone got a suggestion for a good slider set?
Was looking at Bobhead's sliders and they look the best for how I play. Any Suggestions?

Can't go wrong with TNK or A&S/Marino's, imo.

finished my first season as the cubbies. Playing 1 game in each series plus all vs the sox.

77-85. Was .500 around august then hit the bottom. Made some mid-season trades to continue to get younger. Traded Soto, Maholm, Byrd and Lahair. Got good prospects like Tommy Joseph, Wil Myers and acquired Jon Niese. Drafted a B potential SS and a A 3B. Signed Andre Ethier to a five year deal. Soriano retired.

            Line-up

            Dejesus LF
            Jackson CF
            Castro SS
            Ethier RF
            Rizzo 1B
            Stewart 3B
            Barney 2B
            Joseph C

            Rotation + Bullpen
            1. Garza
            2. Niese
            3. Dempster
            4. T.Wood
            5. Jeff Samardzija

            Bullpen
            J.C Romero
            Volstad
            Wells
            Okajima
            Carlson
            Dwyer
            Wood
            Marmol

could compete this season. Jackson played about 4 months the bigs last year as well as Rizzo. Rizzo started off really slow last season but ended up.274 18 HR's 44RBI.

              Rivera 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 K, 4 BB, 4 SV

After starting 9-5 to start the season, CC Sabathia went down a minor 10-day long injury. BOS, TEX and DET would capitalize on this, and ultimately bring my Yanks stumbling into his return with .500 record (11-11).

But just like any leader, CC's return would prompt 3 consecutive victories (2 coming against BAL) and 2 consecutive drama filled walking offs to open the month of May (including a bottom of the 10th HR from Nick Swisher to end a 1-1 tie in a pitchers duel that touted Brian Matuz and Ivan Nova).

CC Sabathia is first in CY Young and All-Star voting, while Brett Gardner aims to possibly chase a batting title once his 15-day DL stint is over.

Michael Pineda clearly needs some seasoning, and won't last in the rotation much longer if he doesn't shape up soon. David Aardsma is one bad inning away from a flat out release.

Derek Jeter, who's been struggling greatly, went on the 60-Day DL last night; hurting his leg after a hard slide into 3rd base. Eduardo Nunez will become the everyday shortstop while I decide if any waiver releases or FA's make a better fit for an extended period of time.

Roy Halladay leads the MLB with a 0.87 ERA, while Paul Konerko is the only player in both leagues still hitting above .400 (.409, 11 HR, 29 RBI). Matt Moore is just behind CC Sabathia in ERA in the AL, posting a 1.53 ERA over his first 5 starts.

Albert Pujols hasn't adjusted to AL pitching yet, hitting a dismal .185 on the year and only driving in 9 RBI.

The Blue Jays, Mariners and Mets all lead their divisions with winning percentages above .666.

And Grady Sizemore is injured...again!!!! God I love this game!!!
              I can't believe it, guys.

I just threw a CG SHO with CC Sabathia (10 K's!!!) to bring his ERA down to an MLB best 0.99!!!! He's freaking 5-0. CY Young? Hopefully. MVP????

I've NEVER had a run like this in the Show before. And see my stats above. It's not like the game is too easy for me. LOL!

              I seriously can't believe this!

I certainly wouldn't say it's too easy, seeing as how your 14-11. If you were 20-1, then it would be too easy. Nice job on the CG.

                  Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

decided to sim my A's franchise to the playoffs and did the series last night and early this morning now im in progress in the world series

i beat the in 5 games in the ALDS and the twins in 7 in the ALCS and its a Oakland Houston World series. AL has home field advantage here.
in game 1 we were shut down by tim hudson managing only 4 runs as we game up 8 and lost 8-4 at home.
Game 2 was a massively different story a 16-11 final with the A's taking the win matt kemp went 4-5 with a double and THREE home runs a grand slam and 2 2run shots for a total of 8 RBI's and ibanez added a 2 run homer and david freeze had a 3-5 game with a solo shot and a 2 run double.
Game 3 - phil huges shut us down through 6, we were able to get 1 off of him with a single but ryan braun had a solo shot and a 1 run single to put them up 2-1 in the 7th 1 out dylan bundy the pitcher is up and he was able to rip a single down the left field line and then david freeze comes up and rips a double down the line, i thought it was a home run or else i would have been faster on the advance runners button, so we have 2nd and 3rd for dee gordon who hit a line drive hard into center but a great diving catch took away extra bases. i was able to tag up with bundy to tie the game. now Matt Kemp steps up and first ptich is a hanging slider and you dont get that past kemp who destroyed it down the left side line and into the stands HOME RUN we had a 4-2 lead and would win by that same margin with javy guera getting the save and dylan bundy getting the win.
                  game 4 - we lost
game 5- with the series tied 2-2 were at the final game at houston, in the 2nd devin mesoraco slammed a 3 run homer and a 2 rbi double my matt kemp gave us a 5-0 lead in the 3rd bryce harper had a solo shot a jason kipnis double gave raul ibanez a shot for a 2 run homer which he did so it was 8-0 in the 6th we scored one and so did they. arthur rhodes gave up 2 in relief in the 8th to make it 9-3 and thats how it would end.
                  NOOOOO IT FROZE
game 4 redo - i simmed games 4,5,6 we lost 2 won 1 so its game 7 at home
Zack wheeler the young phenom vs. phil hughes
houston goes up 1-0 in the first
second - 3-1 houston we got our 1 run on a throwing error
third 3-2 got one on a david freeze solo shot, hes really showing why hes leadin the playoff MVP catagory
inning 4 - no change 3-2 still some great diving stops by arron hill and a sliding catch in center by cameron maybin
5th- no change freeze grounded out with a runner on second to end the inning
6th - pitching change i put in matt cain, all pitchers are available
gordon leadoff double kemp moves him over trumbo rbi single up the middle TIE GAME. harper GIDP to end the inning
7th - ibanez K's mesoraco i out single phil hughes is done, pitching change to face thome, who hits a deeeep fly ball but caught at the track kipnis pops out, inning over
8th - freeze leadoff double gordon fly out at the track. 1 out runner on second. MATT KEMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 RUN HOMER 5-3 LEAD. pitching change. 2 fly outs
9th inning - we lead 5-3 aramis ramirez, ben zobrist and aaron hill coming up. ramirez flys out to harper. 1 OUT. zobrist grounds out to second 2 OUTS. pitching change javy guerra relieves matt cain GROUND OUT TO THE PITCHER AS WIN AS WIN A'S WINNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WORLD CHAMPIONS
david freeze gets game mvp and and world series MVP, but i think matt kemp should be co-mvp cause he had 3 go ahead homers in the WS

                  now off season work begins

3-2 going back to the O.co coliseum
                  game 6 -

                    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Wow just won an awesome game...4-3 against Toronto in 13 innings.

Colby and Ricky were both awesome.

Lind had a 3 run shot to give Toronto an early 3-0 lead. Then Nellie added a solo shot to make it 3-1. Torrealba then singled home Kinsler to bring it to 3-2. Then in the 9th, Elvis had a leadoff triple and then Kinsler added a double to bring him in. Then finally with Leonys Martin on 2nd, Elvis hit a line drive up the middle that bounced off the left of the pitchers mound and over the SS to score Martin, a crazy play.

                    Lewis - 7.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 3.26 ERA
                    Romero - 7.0 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 3.29 ERA

Colby really had his slider working today. Out of the 24 sliders he threw, Toronto was just 1-9.

Miami Marlins (44-13) 3player fantasy draft franchise w/ diamondbacks and Astros

Selected by a true Florida fan all the way around. After a mock draft noticed top tier pitching goes early and planned accordingly. With Timmy starting the draft. Alot of players selected thru years of MLB the show experience and for whatever reason these guys mash on the game. # 1 in pitching and Miami playing like a pitchers park allows the big guns to stay in the game Some high risk high reward swings (Uggla Reynolds) mixed with some high average guys ( Reyes Ethier ) Recently dealt Delmon Young , Adam Jones, and Jonny Venters for Carlos Gonzalez and Henry Rodriguez. jhoulys chacin is spot starter.

Currently 26-20 in my Blue Jays franchise. Had a rough April but a great May so far. I just swept Tampa Bay, which has put me only two games begind the Rays for the division. Romero and Morrow have been really good for me. I signed Oswalt at the beginning of the season for one year and he's been alright.

Hitting wise, Lind has been my best batter so far, hitting over .300 with 9 HR and 28 RBIs. I was really struggling with Bautista early on, and only had one home run with him in April. Lately though, he's been hitting really well, and has four home runs this month, and has raised his average to around .280.

On the trade front, I recently called up Travis Snider and he has been out-performing Eric Thames since. I have a trade that I discovered (Thames for James McDonald) that I am thinking of doing. Will probably depend on how Kyle Drabek (who I also recently called up) does for me.

                          Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Game 5 of the ALCS in my Yankees franchise against the Rangers (3:1 lead).

Started C.C. against Feliz to close it out and after all other ALCS games were low-scoring, close games (2-1, 3-2, etc.), Game 5 started with a bang as I was up 11-0 after 3 innings.

Decided to take out C.C. and rest him for the WS after 5 strong innings (2 hits, no runs, no walks) and brought on Freddy Garcia. Then the carnage started.

The Rangers annihilated Garcia in the 6th, scoring 6 runs on 9 hits. They were getting hits off of every single pitch (the one that stuck with me was Beltre chasing a changeup WAY out of the strikezone and still knocking it over Tex at 1st for a base hit).

Somehow I managed to get out of the jam and brought on Cory Wade for the 7th. Hamilton blasted a 2-run shot to left to make it 11-8 and I immediately took Wade out and brought on Robinson.

After sweating through the rest of the 7th and 8th it was time for the Sandman to close out the game and thankfully he worked a perfect 9th to take the Yankees to the World Series.

Now I'm taking on the Braves (they won the NLCS against Miami, 4-3) in the WS, let's see how that goes.

Just lost 2 of 3 to the Angels in my Twins franchise. I was able to manage a 6-3 win in the third game behind a solid outing from Carl Pavano.

Denard Span has been hitting the ball well (.370). My bullpen has not been good.

I am currently 3-3. Playing game on of the Rangers series right now. Losing 5-2 in the seventh.

This game can cause some headaches. Longoria is still out for 1-2 months for me and I call up Will Rhymes to fill the roster spot since he can play multiple positions and can swap in and out with SRod at 2nd and 3rd when Keppinger needs a rest.

Well, Will Rhymes tears a calf muscle and is out 2-3 months AND Sam Fuld suffered an ACL sprain that will keep him out 3-4 weeks.

I brought up Brandon Guyer and Elliot Johnson. They are the only MLB-ready guys I have right now to fill those positions. Any other injuries in the field and it'll mean a trip to the FA market or a minor-trade to hold me over.

Those moves left AAA Durham without enough guys, so, Hak-Ju Lee is heading to Durham with Jeff Salazar. Tim Beckham will shift from 2B and become the starting SS in AA Montgomery and Drew Vettleson and Tyler Goeddel were called up from Class-A Charlotte to Montgomery. Jesus, injuries cause a real domino effect lol.

After making all of those moves, I played the Blue Jays and got hammered with Hellickson on the mound in a 10-2 loss. I can't stress enough though, how important it is to utilize the "pitcher analysis" option during the game. It gives you a great look at how the CPU is hitting each pitch.

Sitting at 22-20 right now IIRC using a combo of sim/user-play games. The sim gods have not been kind to my Rays as I am patching together a lineup for each game and my pitching is not as consistent as I would like it to be.

Just got done with my first year with Seattle, I am simming a couple years to build the team then I plan on playing my games.

Seattle went 61-101; which I expected
AAA went 85-59 lost in the second round of playoffs
                                AA went 35-35

Before the season I signed FA Jorge Soler who played in AAA.

                                During the season I made a few trades to bolster my farm systems;

LF Christian Yelch(A Potential), OF Chris Coghlan and SS Jurickson Profar(A) from MIA for Franklin Gutierrez

LF Brett Gardner, SP Manny Banuelos (A), C Gary Sanchez(A) from Yanks for Ichiro

LF Rymer Liriano(A), SP Joe Ross(A) from SD for some of my relief pitching

3B Edwin Encarnacion, SP Drew Hutchison(B), OF Colby Rasmus from Toronto for some of my relief pitchers

The only FA move I made during the off-season was signing Melky Cabrera

Starting up my second season now, seriously debating if I should try to trade away Felix and his 22mil/yr contract for another top tier pitcher/s with smaller contracts.
