    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

After an incredible first two months of the season, the Mariners seem to be cooling down. A 5-5 start to June is not what Seattle had in mind, as they were unable to take the series in Los Angeles against the Angels, and were shut out by Aaron Harang of the Dodgers. Apparently I can't hit those from the City of Angeles. Luckily, I managed to hold down the Dodgers with Iwamuma in game two for a 2-1 win. Game three will be Felix Hernandez verse Clayton Kershaw.

    I HATE CHANGEUPS BTW
    EPL - Arsenal
    MLB - Seattle Mariners
    NBA - Cleveland Cavaliers
    NFL - Philadelphia Eagles
    MLS - Seattle Sounders

Took two of three from the Brewers to improve to 6-3. Won the first game in 10 innings 4-3. Second game was scoreless after eight. Braun hit a homer in the 9th, but the Braves got two in the bottom of the 9th for a 2-1 win. Brewers took the finale 5-2 behind some dominant pitching from Narveson.

The Mets come into town now. After being swept by the Braves to open the season, New York has won six in a row.

      Braves 6-3
      Mets 6-3
      Marlins 6-4
      Phillies 5-4
      Nats 4-6

I'm now 1-10 on the season so far. My starting pitchers continue to put forth great efforts to start the game, and my bullpen continues to screw it up. Last game I played, Bud Norris left in the 7th inning with the score tied at 1-1.... I lost 5-1.

This is going to be a very, very long season.

The Miami Marlins finished up the month of April at 10-13. Below are the player stats and I will follow up with a complete summary. But I wanted to post this before I run out this morning. As you can see hitting has been tough on this team, and the starting pitching has been up and down. The bullpen though as been outstanding.

            Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

This is MLB 11 but whatever.. I have a Padres chise.. Simmed the first year to bring in young new players.. In years 2 my lineup looks like this:

            LF Grady Seizmore
            3B Chase Headly
            CF Cameron Maybin
            1B Brad Hawpe/Jorge Cantu
            2B Orlando Hudson
            RF Lorenzo Cain
            SS Jason Barlett
            C Nick Hundley

            Bench
            Jack Cust
            Marco Scutaro
            Jeff Baker
            Brayan Pena
            Alberto Gonzalez

            Pitchers
            Mat Latos
            Joulys Chacin
            Casey Kelly (R)
            Wade LeBlanc
            Simon Castro (R)

            Bullpen:
            CP Evan Scribner (R?)
            RP Mike Adams
            RP Luke Gregerson
            RP Ernesto Frieri (R?)
            RP Cory Luebke (R)
            RP Joe Thatcher

We started year 2 at 21-14.. We have had great outfield play thanks to 3 outfielders with centerfielder speed... Mat Latos has an ERA under 1 and has a good shot at the Cy Young. Scribner has played great with 12 saves. Should be interesting..... Your thoughts?

              Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

My start has been, to put it mildly, atrocious.

Out of the gates 1-4 with Detroit, hitting a paltry .177 and really struggling badly at the plate. The only person "on it" so far is Fielder with 4 jacks already.

The pitching (one terrible Opening Day 11 run start aside) has been good, the bullpen ok, ive been walking enough but simply swinging at too many bad pitches, but ill turn it around.

Though in those first 5 games ive faced Beckett, Buchholz, Lester, Matt Moore and Alex Cobb, really Cobb aside thats a tough run for any hitting side.

My signature makes painful reading at present!

But ill battle away, after all i still have 157 games to put it right

                Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Started over my M's season with 30-team control.

Felix was coasting opening day and went into the bottom 7th with a 3-1 lead (Smoak 2-run HR and RBI single). After a couple basehits and a ground out, Brandon Allen smacked a 3-2 pitch over the centerfield wall to take the lead 4-3, spoiling Felix's good start. Probably my fault, as he was high in pitch count and I was giving him one more batter to get out of the jam. I couldn't answer and Balfour shut the door in the ninth.

The second game was a blowout, with the A's winning 7-1. Cespedes had a 3-run shot and despite actually pitching pretty well for the most part, Vargas had a coupld bad innings. My lonely bright spot was Montero hitting a bomb over the centerfield wall. Bartolo Colon was lights out for Oakland as well. (I dunno about anybody else but Colon is one of those pitchers I love facing; I can easily pick his pitches out of his hand and his velocity is low-90s. I hit him hard all game just couldn't put anything in the gaps.)

I actually feel the same way about Colon. Whenever I face him, I can read his pitches, for the most part. I just can't put the ball in play. It's crazy.

Yeah I don't get it lol. Facing McCarthy is the same way. And I've hit both guys hard, just seems like it's always right at someone.

And since I've started my M's franchise over a couple different times, I'm getting sick of playing the A's. Not to mention they got De Los Santos and Fuentes, two guys I absolutely can not hit.

The A's were a nightmare, but I managed to beat them up most of the time. Their offense doesn't scare me, so I just challenge them most of the time.

I hear you with Fuentes. That pitching motion is deadly.

I hear you with Fuentes. That pitching motion is deadly.
I seem to have trouble with them for some reason. The crazy thing is I've somehow been able to hold Texas in check, though. Doesn't make sense lol. But now that I've said that I'll get swept in Texas.

Texas took two of three from me in the first meeting, but I took the series in our second and third meetings. The Angels are tricky, and Jered Weaver is nearly untouchable. He shut me out once, then beat me 4-2 in our second meeting. Both loses were with Felix on the hill.

I'm sitting at a 2 game lead over SF beginning a 3 game series at home. I'm 34-21 with the Padres and just got Quentin back off the DL for this series so that should add some much needed pop.

I am getting next to no production from my catchers.

Hundley is hitting .176 with 1 HR and Baker is hitting .155 with 0 HR....therefore, welcome to the Show Yasmani Grandal. I hope he can spark something and get some offense out of the C position.

Luebke on the other hand is an Ace Killer. He is 8-1 with a 1.97 ERA and his last 5 Starts he got W's over Garza, Weaver, Strasburg, Santana and Kershaw

I also want to call Joe Wieland up to be a permanent mainstay in my MLB rotation as he is 8-2 in AAA and 1-0 in the MLB when he had a spot star.

Check out my current AAA rotation

                            Joe Wieland 8-2
                            Casey Kelly 5-1
                            Robbie Erlin 5-0
                            Jeff Suppan 3-0
                            Matt Palmer 5-3

Anthony Bass has been moved to the bullpen as he was 2-6, Jorge Reyes was 1-5 and a few others were sucking and optioned to AA. Erlin has been fantastic since his call up

Forgot to mention that I finally called up Henderson Alvarez, who was acquired in the Adam Lind deal, to replace the annoying - in this game and in real life - Kevin Millwood. He made his first start and went eight, allowing two runs. Sadly, he got the loss as Aaron Harang was lights out for the Dodgers.

Who'd you trade to get Lind and Alvarez and what does you lineup look like? You're in 2012 right?
