Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
Better hope that Cano doesn't sign an extension before the OSFM are done because they usually edit the contracts. Granted you could always edit his back.Yes I am! Die hard here always wait until OSFM then I roll with my beloved Cubbies. Season ticket holder!
I usually like to go with what the real life Cubs are doing to at least start with. Then as the season progresses I tend to do moves to my liking. I got through 4 seasons last year.
I plan on hoping to stay in the race but how mediocre the team is this year I will probably end up trading Matt Garza by the deadline. Maybe try to get Mike Olt. For sure a top prospect. Will also probably deal Marmol and Soriano. All depends on how we are competing. Soler and Baez hopefully up by 2014-15. I love building the farm but if Cano becomes a free agent I might just try to nab him and move Barney for prospects. Most of my FA signings will be for the rotation though as that is what is in most need.Comment

Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
No Dejesus eh?Im going with this:
1. BJax
2. Scheirholtz / Hairston
3. Castro
4. Rizzo
5. Soriano
6. Stewart
7. Castillo
8. Barney
9. Pitcher
1. Shark
2. Garza
3. EJax
4. Baker
5. Feldman
Once the full minor league rosters are out I will start my season. I will be bringing up Baez and Soler for sure at some point this year.Comment

Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
Just not really into DeJesus. I would rather build up a guy that has potential like BJax. I know what Im going to get out of DeJesus and he will still get his run but I am not expecting much out of the Cubbies as a whole so Im going to get BJax some MLB at bats!!!
Then in September, possibly bring up Baez and/or Soler!!!
I also think Wood and Vill are going to be great long relief options with Russell and Camp being 7th-8th inning guys. I still havent decided if Im going to go Marmolade or Fuji to close.
If a trade happens like Sori getting dealt then DeJesus will most likely get his spot back as I keep a franchises rosters as accurate like their real life counterparts.Last edited by zack4070; 03-02-2013, 10:05 PM.Gal 2:20Comment

Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
Maybe if they traded rosters with the Cardinals or Nationals.
With regards to the OP, the Cubs are on my short list of teams that I might try using. The farm system is crap outside of a couple of players (i.e. Baez, Almora, and Soler) and there is minimal high quality youth (i.e. 25 and under) on the major league roster. The odd thing is that the veteran talent on-hand like DeJesus, Soriano and the starting rotation could make them a strong enough contender on The Show. I absolutely abhor their bullpen though and it may require a lot of work to keep them from killing their chances in 2013. This team is clearly a rebuilder and is in a tough division with 4 quality teams ahead of them (yes, I think the lowly Pirates have more upside).Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
On the contrary, the farm is actually quite good position player wise beyond the big 3. There's just a major shortage of quality pitching, especially in the upper levels.Maybe if they traded rosters with the Cardinals or Nationals.

As for contending, it's a very very small chance but I do expect better than last year. I would have the "lowly pirates" ahead of the Brewers as well as the cubs though. I see it being: reds, cards, pirates, brewers, cubs.Comment

Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
Cubs would be about 75 win team with team they currently have BUT at deadline great chance that Garza, Baker, Feldman, etc are gone so they will have hard time cracking 70 wins again. Farm is good position player wise but pitching is bad on the farm. Some intriguing arms in lower levels but still awhile awayComment

Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
I am waiting on Baez and Soler until 2013, small chance of a September call up though.Comment

Re: Anybody going with Cubs?
Garza is a girl. Im sick of his crap. Must be nice to make millions of dollars and take ice baths and hot tubs and have trainers massage his arms all day. Trade his ***, hes a primadonna anyways. He isnt going to resign with the Cubs so we need to trade him.Gal 2:20Comment
