Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread
I was watching the subway series last night and i thought "this series isnt that good anymore. I want 2000 back" So I figured that I would do a fantasy draft with the yanks and mets and try and have them meet up again in the series. So I did it this morning, some notes beforehand: Salary cap off, and I saw someone else come up with this idea, blanking on who it was, cause they deserve some credit, but I moved all closers to RP so kimbrel isnt going 8th overall, is it a little unfair? maybe, but I like the results better. so here are the teams:
Yankees picked 1st overall, mets 21st
Mets:
1b : Mark Trumbo
2b: jedd gyorko
3b: Pablo Sandoval
ss: xander bogaerts
lf: Matt Joyce
cf: Oscar Taveras
rf: Dom Brown
C: Carlos Santana
Dh ( nolan arenado)
Pitching:
Yu Darvish
Matt Harvey
Michael Pineda
Edison Volquez
Gerrit Cole
Pen:
Esmil Rogers
Brett Bochy
nathan hyatt
Jonny Venters
Neftali Feliz
Heath Hembree

Sergio Romo
Aroldis Chapman
Prospects
Kevin Gausman

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread
Yeah it's fun creating myself, I'm not a fan of rtts mode as the CPU sucks at lineups/roster moves and trades... If you create your guy and he comes oh about 80-85 he should go somewhere I round 8-12ish I that helps... Look forward to your results...RED SOX NATION!!!!Comment

Two good young teams, you haven't included a catcher for the yanks, which is actually vital, I like the yanks rotation better and depending on who the catcher is I may also favour their lineup, the bullpens are both stacked but it hunk that Kimbrel gives the yanks an edge again... Do keep us updated though...
EDIT: the CP/RP idea was infact mine, I think it's great because it frustrates me to see the CPU use an awesome pick in the first round on a guy who'll give them 70 or so innings a season, when they could get a guy like Trout, Cutch, Tulo etc who are going to be playing everyday... I honestly don't think Starters should go in the first round either, I mean some of them are great but again they're only playing every 5 days meaning they'll play around 30 games a season... That's just my opinion though and I've found your better off picking guys you like even if they aren't as good as some of the other options as its more enjoyable that way...Last edited by Pete_Dogg_18; 05-28-2013, 11:23 AM.RED SOX NATION!!!!Comment

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread
it seems like every draft i do i always forget a catcher, because if i cant get posey mauer or wieters i usually go to another position and forget about catcher, so thats definately a position i need to upgrade, i didnt try and favor one team or the other (who am i kidding, of course i sent kimbrel to the yanks instead of the mets) but yeah, it was hard to pick with the mets, 21 isnt a good location, your too far away to get a top 15 player and your not far enough back to have that combo of picking really close to one anotherSpoiler

I'm getting set to do my draft in about 4 hours. I'll post as soon as I'm done. Couple of warnings. It will probably be very young and not so much stacked.

I'm kinda proud of myself as I didn't make any trades. First game on spring. My offense gets hot. We hit 4 homers including a 473 ft bomb from middlebrooks. However, my bullpen sucked. When I say sucked I mean it. Josh Johnson goes 5 giving up 2. I bring in my dual of Hembree and Rondon in the sixth.
THEY COMBINE TO GIVE UP 8. DOWN 10-9. Jacob Turner gives up 3 in the seventh. Carlos Martinez gives up a solo shot in the eighth. Going into the ninth down 14-9. Grandal tacks on a run from an rbi double but it wasn't nearly enough.
Overall I'm very proud of my offense. I was shocked at 10 runs. I'm not worried about my pen because those runs weren't the core of my pen. Also it was only spring so whatever.

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread
Yeah there are definately some balancing issues still in this years game, it's why almost all of my teams are offence heavy, coz it doesn't seem to matter who I put on the mound I'll get similar results... Hopefully those guys can turn it around by season start though...I'm kinda proud of myself as I didn't make any trades. First game on spring. My offense gets hot. Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread
A few posts back a guy decided to draft for both the yanks and mets, which got me thinking, I can draft well against a CPU, I can draft well against my mates, but how well can I draft against myself... The foreseen problems being that I always had specific targets in specific rounds but how would I go having to take two players per round and fill two rosters... This was slightly relieved by the fact that I chose to do a pitch heavy team in Seattle's Safco Park, and a hitter heavy lineup in the always hitter friendly confines of Colorado's Coors Field... Here's my results... (sorry in advance for the long post)
Colorado Rockies - The Power
Rotation
Jamie Garcia
Daniel Hudson
Derek Holland
Michael Pineda
Danny Hultzen
'Pen
CP Neftali Feliz
Aaron Crow
Jonathan Broxton
Robbie Ross
Carter Capps
James Russell
Gerrit Cole
In the field
C Matt Weiters
1B Mark Trumbo
2B Francisco Lindor
3B Xander Bogaerts
SS Manny Machado
OF Oscar Taveras
OF Justin Upton
OF Giancarlo Stanton
Bench
C Christian Bethancourt
3B Mike Olt
2B Jedd Gyorko
RF Dominic Brown
CF Mason Williams
Noteable Prospects
SP Tyler Skaggs
SS Javier Baez
LF Starling Marte
3B Corey Seager
Young talented and hopefully good enough to take advantage of Coors, with hopefully a rotation and bullpen to out up some decent numbers...
Seattle Mariners - The Rotation
Rotation
Justin Verlander
Madison Bumgarner
Gio Gonzalez
Matt Harvey
Vance Worley
'Pen
CP Drew Storen
Jordan Walden
Bill Bray
Henry Rodriguez
Heath Hembree
Brett Cecil
Jacob Turner
In the field
C Pete Dogg
1B Mark Reynolds
2B Trevor Story
3B Miguel Sano
SS Jurikson Profar
OF Yasiel Puig
OF Desmond Jennings
OF Colby Rasmus
Bench
C Devin Mesoraco
2B Nick Franklin
3B Nolan Arenado
OF J.D. Martinez
OF Brett Jackson
Noteable Prospects
SP Archie Bradley
SP Casey Kelly
SS Addison Russell
2B Gordon Beckham
Stacked rotation should make scoring hard in Safeco... Hopefully enough young talent in the lineup to put up enough runs to support those guys...
It's hard to say which is my favourite, probably the Rockies by a hair, only because I prefer a stacked lineup to a stacked rotation... Let me know what you guys think, which is your favourite???Last edited by Pete_Dogg_18; 05-29-2013, 09:18 AM.RED SOX NATION!!!!Comment
