So I've been playing baseball video games for a long time, and the Show Series if my favorite (realistic-baseball sim) by far. I've played all-star baseball series, ML2K5WS edition, slugfest 20-04, 989's MLB series, and the Show series since 2006. So I've been playing the series for about 7 years. There are a few things I've wanted but haven't really seen yet.
1.)EYE TOY, PHOTO UPLOAD/CGI/PHOTO
IMO Eye-toy PS2 for MLB 2005-on wasn't great for me personally, but at least people had the option to make CAPs with their own faces, or grab a photo of an MLB player and make one. There should be also be an option such as uploading a picture and having the game generate a face for you.
2.)HAIR STYLES, COLORS, FACIAL HAIR, SCARS, TATTOOS, ETC
Facial hair, hair color, hair styles, dark brown, light brown, blond with brown streaks etc. Also the edition of gray/graying hair or even white. For example if I wanted to make a historical roster I'd want some of the older players to have lighter hair colors and maybe some gray/white mixed in. Dreadlocks, crew-cuts, buzz cuts, afros and very-long hair such as Bronson Arroyo, Jayson Werth, or Josh Reddick should also be implemented. Another thing I've never seen is scars or the option to add tattoos for players. I remember Jermaine Dye having a few scars and I actually say Yadier Molina's neck tattoo in this game, so my question Is why can't I add tats or scars?
3.)PLAYER POTENTIAL/SERVICE TIME
So right now we can't edit player service time or player potential, but a lot of the minor league scrubs (fake players) have potentials ranging from a-d, with the occasional F mixed in. I don't really have an issue with not editing the potential for a "fake player" (not a CAP or a real MLB player) though. The main reason I don't have an issue with it is because I feel that service time is more important. Service time would fix the issue I have of seeing a lot of great CAPS on PSN posted by pjsnell and drsublime that have Randy Johnson or Pedro Martinez as rookies. I really like the idea of having this in years and not like .0000 for a created or edited player.
4.)MORE STANCES/NO HIDDEN STANCES PLEASE! ADD MORE OLD STANCES! GIVE SUBTLE HINTS FOR GENERIC STANCES? TWEAK STANCE?
I've been playing the show since about 7 years, and I've seen quite a few stances come and go in that time. Currently the method of finding generic stances etc, is alphabetical as I've noticed. However, there a few thrown in this year before Sandy Alomar, and Moises Alou, that I have no idea who they're supposed to be. Another thing I kind of have issue with is that there have been missing/hidden stances since the Show 06 on PS2... MLB 06 the Show, had Craig Biggio's stance, Jeff Bagwell's stance, Carl Everett's stance, Tim Salmon, Juan Gonzalez wasn't present but his stance was back when they made a CAP of him for one of the later games. Another thing I've noticed is that Rick Ankiel has had a "hidden stance" for a while, and Giancarlo/Mike Stanton has one this year. I also saw that Robinson Cano, David Ortiz, and A-Rod have different stances again. It would be nice to have those old stances within the "generic stances" list if they're not already there. Personally I feel that Cano's stance in the show last year was fine but the new stance is bothering me. There are definitely a few stances that were unique that should be included for the next game. (Tim Salmon, Juan Gonzalez, Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, Carl Everett, Egardo Alfonzo, Craig Counsell (old-stance) Phil Nevin, Larry Walker, old Carlos Quentin stance PLEASE!). So I realize both the generic and current stances are alphabetical but for some of the more unknown generics could there be some hints? Maybe just a simple clue like the very first and last players' initials on the generic list. So SA, then RW or whoever is last this year. It would be really nice if we had the option to tweak current/generic batting stances to suit our needs beyond the stride, etc. Like where/how a player positions the hands or how much movement the bat makes. For example, if someone doesn't like the Barry Bond's stance is may be something really simple such as hand positioning etc. This would also add an added level of realism to the game as MLB players tend to alternate hand positions and change other things such as where they stand in the box.
5.)NAMING THE PLAYER/PLAYER AUDIO
11 Letters isn't enough to do justice for makers of historical CAPS and rosters. The most obvious examples I can think of are: Doug Mientkiewicz, Mark Grudzielanek, and Todd Hollandsworth. If you wanted to make a CAP for a current player I'd say Salty. I noticed "Royce", "Herbert", "Reuben", "Tadahito", and Hideki were some of the names added to the new game this year. However I haven't seen "Edgardo", "Tino", "Ellis", "Trot" "Moises", "Aramis" "Dmitri", or other names that should be in the audio library. This is kind of a pet peeve, as the audio files are just an MP3 file away. Which if that isn't possible (adding the names to the spoken audio library would be a great) otherwise I'd like to be able to add my own voice via MP3 or import announcer audio like (Steve Lyons, Vin Scully, or Thom Brennaman) It doesn't make sense for those names not to be present within the game yet the stances are still there? I'd also like the option to add really long or hyphenated names as well that could be spoken by the announcer. It would also be really cool to actually hear someone say Cal Ripken Jr. instead of just Cal Ripken, or Ken Griffey. As it is now some of the player names simply can't be made because the audio is separate between first/last names. Some players would be really easy to make audio for because the last name is the first name. Not separating it between/first last would be great in my opinion, or at the very least have it be like the nickname column, so last names show up twice. I also really liked the idea someone else suggested as in splicing his-her own name or something already in the audio files. I can't seem to do Chuck Knoblauch, Scott Brosius, or Dante Bichette justice at the moment. The closest I get to Brosius is "Scott Rosas" and the closest I get to Knoblauch is "Chuck Nava".
6.)UNIFORM RESTRICTIONS (NONE PLEASE)
Ok what I actually mean is allow us to make players with uniform #42 etc without having to name him "Jackie Robinson", or make an Ichiro Suzuki CAP and have the name on the back be "SUZUKI" instead of Ichiro. You should include the option to have first/last name on the jersey or something different possibly? Ok so the player name is Reggie Ross-Irving and just wants "IRVING" on the back of it. Or maybe it's a celebrity like "Snoop Dogg" and the jersey would say "SNOOP". I've also been messing around with the idea of making an entire movie-star/celebrity roster, but I'm still restricted by either not having enough letters to put on the jersey or not having the necessary audio to do so. Let's say I want to make Sean Connery a baseball player. I could easily just name him Sean Connery and then use the audio "James Bond", or "Sean Conroy", it's just not the same. Other times I don't have the issue such as 'Bruce Willis.
7.)CAP RATINGS GENERATOR
Some of us gamers are confused about what constitutes as average in the game (fielding, baserunning, etc.) It would be nice if we could set up a numbers based system and then the game would auto-generate what the ratings would be. Lets say I want to make a player that is a 40-40 threat and is a solid glove man but not GG, and will hit about .289-.290 and is an OF. Or maybe I simply want to input the stats of Larry Walker's 1997 season and see what comes out.
8.)SPEED, BASE-RUNNING, ARM STRENGTH, ARM ACCURACY, RATINGS GENERATOR?
How are speed and arm strength determined in this game? Skip Schumaker's speed took a serious dive from 70 (last year) to presently 30something? Just seems odd that the speed rating could change that much. Also arm strength is something I always wonder about, and am curious to see how it factors into current player ratings. Same as above it would be nice to have something that could give us the ratings based on the stats.
9.)UTILITY-POSITIONS/DH
Wanted to make Craig Biggio a 2B, but also a C/OF, it would awesome if we could actually do so. Edgar Martinez or David Ortiz DH only, with 1B as the secondary. DH could be a separate category for STATS, doesn't make sense for Ortiz to win a GG or SS at first base if he only plays 10 games there a season right? Adding that a player can play the corner outfield and corner infield, as in Bobby Bonilla, Craig Paquette, Scott Spizeio, John Mabry, or Daniel Murphy. Basically more options to edit positioning etc.
(I have another wish list but that involves stadiums so I'll save that for later)
