Re: How to turn HR camera off

does this mean we will get the '13 pull back cam for no doubters that arent going right to the behind-catcher view? (pause)

or does it mean the pull back cam is gone, and its no doubter behind catcher or regular fly ball cam?

    hope that makes sense

the no-doubter cam will be there 25% of the time, the rest is the glorious pull back cam.

Re: How to turn HR camera off

As others have mentioned, a simple on/off or frequency setting would be the ideal way to go. However, I can live with a reduced frequency for now.

I also agree that the biggest problem with this camera is not seeing where the ball lands. The most exciting thing about seeing a no-doubter off the bat is wondering where the ball will come down. In real life you get a commentator saying thing such as, "Wow, where will this one land?" or "Look at this one fly!" Then you watch the ball gloriously sail into the upper deck, over the bullpen, out of the stadium, etc. This is what makes long home runs exciting in real life and previously on the Show.

With the home run camera, it's not much different than a cut scene of a pitcher taking off his hat and wiping his brow between pitches--no excitement.

I just can't understand why Sony would remove the on/off option? I am pretty sure more then 50% of MLB The Show gamers do not like the Home Run Camera. Also I thought Sony always said they never take features away only add to the game?

One of the first things I have always done when first playing a new version of MLB The Show is turning off the Home Run Camera!!!

I will really miss this handy option

This pittance will make no noticeable difference to the vast profit margin being garnered by the sale of this game, but it is the only real voice any business will listen to, so I have said my piece.

Oh, and another piece...the only game I would want to see on PS4 now would be MLB 14 The Show. I have yet to purchase a PS4. I guess my pittance just got a little bigger.
              same here.
I was most likely gonna stick with mlb the show 12 anyways, because i still have the fictional rosters for it.
but now that i cant get rid of that hr camera 100% of the time, there is no positive for me to get the new version..
plus they still have the behind the pitcher camera that cuts away too quick after contact.

All other baseball games ive seen let you see where the ball is going after contact in the behind the pitcher view before switching to camera view.

What is it exactly that makes people hate the home run camera so much?

Most people want a realistic baseball sim, with realistic presentation. This camera is NOT realistic.

Not sure what else you're looking for more than everything that's already been listed throughout the thread?

They don't like that they can't see where the ball lands, to me its a no doubter so its more of seeing the sweet HR Animation and the "cockiness" of the guy who hit the ball, not so much as where it lands. Its a no doubter its going out I don't care where.

As a side note Id like to see more balls "disappear" when they reach the stands and not bounce off people.

Re: How to turn HR camera off

That HR Celebration Cam is terrible. I'm glad it's being reduced to 25% for no-doubters, but I wish we still had the option to turn it off completely. I love how The Show always feels like real baseball, having this arcade game looking camera takes me out of the moment. I cringe every time I have seen it in videos and trailers thus far.

I'm hoping for a small miracle to have the option to turn it off in the PS4 version, but I'm not holding my breath. I hope they give us the option to turn that silliness off for next year's game.

My guess is that whatever is defaulted is most often used by people. I don't have a single friend that I know of who even knows what sliders are, much less difficulty/presentation settings. They just fire up the game and go.

I wonder what they would act like the first time they played a game that wasn't very great out-of-the-box and needed slider tweaks (all depending on the sport and changes, of course).

Anyway, my point is I don't think a lot of people use sliders, either. We certainly do.

Isn't it also true they removed the option to hide the pitching OSD? I loved that being off last year! At least when batting.

Okay, returned from a week vacation and fired up a game last night, hit a home run with Ortiz, and got the pull-back stadium cam for the opposite field blast into the Monster seats!!!

So, it's there. It's hiding behind the ADHD option set, and when it gets fixed. It will be glorious!

For some perhaps, for others like me its because it looks nothing like a broadcast shot. The dev team pays a lot of attention into making the game feel like a broadcast, they even list this as a feature every year. The HR cam just looks silly from a broadcast perspective. As a replay, sure, but not as the play is happening.

I've been wanting this for a while. PYS does this well, although I don't like the fade out, I'd rather it be a hard cut.

I love the cam myself, its cool seeing guys celebrate a bomb. But, I see where everyone is coming from. I think the compromise is the celebration cam being shown as a replay.
