          Re: Eric Gagne

Gagne never played in the majors in 2009; he spent the entire season in an Independent League in Quebec...that's why he's not in the game out of the box

So he's automatically out of the players union? He has service time and should be in the game over a fake player is all were saying with everyone in this thread.

              @ franch1se

What I am telling you is that after the Brewers cut him in 2008, he didn't even play a SINGLE GAME in 2009...not even in the minors. So he basically was banished to the great north...

He was on NO ONE's 40 man roster.

None of us know his baseball/union situation..but that's irrelevant. Fact is, he was not on the MLB radar from April 2008 to AFTER SCEA's roster cutoff date...

              So there you go...

In Gagne's case yes you are absolutely correct, but others however can and should still be there.

How about Austin Jackson and Scott Sizemore (DET)? I've looked, but cannot seem to find them.

They wont be in the game until they get Major league service time. This goes for all minor leaguers that haven't made it to the bigs yet.

Haha I am with you on that. People ask the same questions a million times and they get teh same answer a million times. People just don't pay attention I guess, and some don't know the rules pertaining to the MLBPA.

On the Astros, they could use Gustavo Chacin and Casey Daigle instead of Armando Benitez and Jon Switzer. Chacin and Daigle are ST invitees, Benitez and Switzer are not, minor league contracts only. Gary Majewski is another one and might actually have the best chance of them all of making the club.
