Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
So I'm getting sick and tired of the CPU having Ozzie Smith at every position. I tried lowering the reaction to 0 and fielder speed to 0. This however has only effected my players. ALL i want in life is to hit a baseball between 3rd base and SS. But in this game its IMPOSSIBLE and if you ask me it has been impossible for the last 3years. I'm probably going to take this years back and take the season off. My brother got this game for my birthday. I can't play more then 2 games without wanting to break it in half. CPU first baseman dives and gets every ball before it gets down the line. CPU outfield tracks down every ball. CPU third baseman dives for ball down the line and cuts off the shortstop on every ground ball. CPU still magically knows every pitch that im about to throw. I can throw 99 fastballs in a row and finally throw one curveball and CPU is on it. CPU pitchers still hit like tony gwynn.......Tags: None -
Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
don't forget all the cut scenes taken out as well, it's almost like they pulled a madd.. o nevermind, anyways, i'm pretty disappointed with how i dive for a ball and my fielder dives in slow motion, there needs to be a better balance to the game, i think not much will change till ps4... just my opinion -
Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
Looks like you need to have a mind to enjoy the learning curve for this game. This isn't a casual baseball game which you can keep hacking strikes.... no sliders would help you unless you try to have a similar baseball approach as in real life.Comment

Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
with all do respect, him hacking at strikes and the learning curve have nothing to do with the topic of the threadcomputer defense being like superman has everything to do with the topic of this thread, the game seems unfair atsome points, the computer can't even balk but the human can........Last edited by quack attack; 03-17-2012, 10:11 PM.Comment

Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
Also other guy...learning curve? I have played this game for a the last few years. I get wheelhouse/solid and perfect hits thats not my problem. The problem I have is the CPU has the foul line covered and they have the 3-4 hole and the 5-6 hole covered as well. Which leaves me to only hit homeruns or hits up the middle.Comment

Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
As for CPU defense, it has gotten much better over the years. If you don't like the way things are, then you should lower Fielder Run Speed and Reaction all the way down and that would be the best you can do.
If you are not hitting between the fielders, that probably means you are not generating a lot of solid hits. That probably means your hitting timing isn't optimal yet.Comment

But I don't have the same problems as you have, so I just tried to see what we are doing differently that leads to different impressions.Comment

Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
You know what, I keep reading about how you can generate weak hits with "perfect timing/contact," but I really haven't seen it happening when the swing analysis says the timing is indeed perfect and the contact is perfect... Yes, it can end up being hard hit grounder (which can go through infielders), but not a routine grounder made for double plays...Comment

Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
lol im not mad at you i just need to cool off. I had to shut the game off I was just playing from being too frustrated. Marco Scutaro hit a homerun off me at his eyes on a 12 pitch at bat. Apparently he knows exactly what pitch is coming...even though I haven't thrown it all game.Comment

Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
Well my brother sent me a text with the exact same issue I'm having and he's just as frustrated as I am. SO I really don't know what to do. My box scores are usually CPU 2-4 runs on 12 hits or more and me 0-4 runs on 4-5 hits. I get wheelhouse and perfect with Bautista and Cargo and they are pop fly's to the outfield. I don't want' a homerun every time. I don't understand when Julio Borbon bat's his whole strike zone is red but when I bat with bautista I have 4-5 blue spots. Time for me to pull the plug and stop QQ'ing because i know how everyone defends this game for being god awesome.Comment

Oh I have a history with Operation Sports.

My suggestion would be to change the difficulty levels till your stats even out, and if you aren't walking about 3 times a game, then that will take 1 - 2 run off your game... so to be even with CPU, you have to hit at the difficulty level at which you can roughly hit 3 more singles per game than CPU are hitting off of you.... or work on the discipline to take pitches and walk more.
But if you are just around to vent your frustration, then I'm not a good company for you. Sorry that I have wasted your time (and mine as well).Comment

Re: Sliders seem to only effect me not CPU
fair enough, i turned solid hits down to 3 and it seemed to help with the variety of hits, but like a thread i made lastnight, it helped me and the computer have more power, this game just needs a better balance. my opinion, btw, does lowering fielder reaction actually raise batting average??Comment

Well I'm not here to defend the game, I just want to discuss things surrounding sliders...

I will see how it goes. Maybe I'm not ready for the All Star level if its no fun to play. After 6 games I am batting about .196, I strikeout about 6-7 times a game. I get robbed of about 4-6 hits a game.
Like I said the CPU knows the future. I hit a ball so hard down the first base line the CPU first baseman is already diving before it even hits my bat. It is what it is I guess.
Thanks for your help manComment
