Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
What changes would you consider if you use Timing Hitting like I do? Played a few games and I am seeing more ground ball outs. Sample size is probably too small though.Comment

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
From what I've observed timing is one of the biggest parts of getting hits, as I even mention in my larger post before,
Thats interesting, so I may test it out in a BP mode a time or two to see if batting just timing only is an issue. I think timing only mode would still suit these sliders, off the top of my head. What kind of timing "grades/results" were you having during your at bats?getting in front of a pitch, is probably the biggest factor in being rewarded with the line drives and gap finders under these sliders. The only thing trumping that factor, might be just player attributes.
I'll edit this post, when I play it myself
edit -
I just did a session with Mets prospect Jordany Valdespin and he had warning track power about 4 times, and a showcase of the amazing results my sliders bring out for the hitting. That's about the most I've got to see it on display all at one time.
SpoilerI really wish I recorded it for you, but since I lost my hardrive last december, I don't have my software anymore. I'm buying new stuff in February just in time for the new game to come out.
Definitely I recommend, to keep plugging away and you'll surely be rewarded soon with some amazing shots and gameplay. Timing mode will definately still bring out the results, when you get hold of a nice pitch, it's going to be cool. I just had alot of fun doing itLast edited by @legendm0de; 01-27-2013, 01:35 PM.Red LegendComment

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
I've been using a few different sets posted on OS. Most are at default with the exception of the obvious lowering of solid hits and maybe foul frequency for both me and the CPU. Fielder speed lowered with lower fielder reaction too. Been playing at default pitch speed but went with 6 with your set and it does get your attention real quick.
Hit a home run first game with Granderson so you can hit for power with the slider at zero. Overall I like it.

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
I had to move fielder arm strength up a notch to get rid of the old 2K loopy throw from the outfield. Moved base runner speed up 1 to compensate.Comment

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
Love the smoothness of the infielders with these sliders.. Looks more natural
Also i do agree with how real the ball comes off the bat and i have seen a lot of new foul balls and also the infield grounders seem to roll more natural!
Only problem is no power!! Played 3 games with zero homeruns or doublesComment

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
I get doubles very often and homeruns are hit on occasion, I definitely have gotten alot of jump on the ball sometimes with my hits. Sometimes I've been suprised at the distance a ball traveled because I didn't think I got the best wood on it. I definitely think the power is there, you also have to note the wind & even ball park configurations in some instances. It would be nice to be able to get into some indoor stadiums and see what the hitting & power is like by comparison with 0 wind. But that won't happen any time soon
SpoilerI have a harder time hopping on the game and popping a HomeRun because of the levels and controls I'm using, (zone/analog). the times where I have hit one under these settings, be it BP or in a game, have been magical. And I've done enough hitting and tests to know that the power does certainly exist, in BP i get alot more warning track and home run power. I can remember hitting some with Starlin Castro, Nick Swisher, Jay Bruce, and Adam Dunn. But for me to really get able to knock out homeruns, I'd need to be in franchise/season mode where I would know my squad better + the opponents and I'd have alot more focus when playing the actual games. But I've vowed, since summer of 2012, not to join franchise mode until MLB 13'
*** I just Killed a Homerun ball with Giancarlo Stanton, in BP (timing mode) after posting this. It even cleared the marlins homerun decoration in CF. Just remembering, he actually hit a 2nd HR after that, that barely got out, in LF. Definitely, I'd confirm that the power is still there, I also recall seeing a 3-run bomb, in-game, by Justin Morneau to, that I served up @ Minnesota.
when 13' comes I'm going to play with the defaults to start, but I'm already leaning heavily toward implementing these same sliders and using them pretty early. I will update that information when the new game comes, aren't we about 15 days away?

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
Just wanted to say by using this slider idea the game is exponentially better.
By far the most fun i've had playing the game to date. ((The Roster file I got was great too which helps.))
My first game was light on offense, and I lost 1-0, but I was playing as the Giants so that made total sense to me. Game two I won 2-0. Game 1 had 10 total hits, game too about 19 so it felt real. The gameplay somehow was much much better. 1 error combined in both games, 1/4 stolen bases combined and 1 homerun, several doubles.
Pull hitters pulled and Spray hitters went opposite a few times. It was great all around.
Just wanted to say thank you.
((Note: I can't hit well so I dropped the pitch speed to 3, played HOF setting on both sides used your sliders but upped runner speed and arm strength to 1. Pitcher consistency to 1 and injury to 6.))The Giants are number 1! Everyone else is second or lower....Comment

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
I just took a random team/player for hitting practice and ended up a nearly extreme other way hitter. A minor league Toledo Mudhens 1B - Ryan Strieby (tigers) (OSFM created)
He bats right handed, had 8 hits total. 2 in RF, 3 in LF (1 was a weak chopper to the 3B bag) & 3 in CF. His hit chart for whatever that means exactly in MLB the show, is LF 20 - CF 27 - RF 53. Also, as a note, nearly about all of my LF shots were marked as failure for swinging too early, and they also felt unnatural in a way to me (probably due to his batting stance). What I took away from this batting practice with an extreme opposite field hitter, I feel that's he's definitely not a pull hitter by any means. I rarely, only once or twice, felt him really pull a ball. This is something I look forward to continue targeting & testing for answers with him and other batters.
As the poster above said, I've also definitely felt far more the attribute for pull hitters, the most common in baseball. For example, I'm certain I could take Michael/Giancarlo Stanton out there, and he won't hit any opposite field ball except for maybe 1. And I can recall other hitting sessions and in-game at bats where I was undoubtedly dealing with a pull hitter. But this isn't something yet I've scientifically put a focus on, but I will start doing that now to see. Especially for those of us keeping MLB 12 in our systems, until the PS4 release like I, it'll be interesting to see if my sliders have unlocked the same attribute hitting that MLB 13 has put a focus on. I certainly until starting with these sliders, had not ever felt that an attribute hitter really had a place in this game on a consistent basis. Because everyone was basically lining everything.
But still, regardless of the result of the specific investigation that I'm going to continue doing. The overall, most important thing regarding the hitting and these sliders is that it all feels so much more naturally coming off the bat, and have resulted in endless new hits and contribute to very new gameplay in MLB 12. that from what I can remember, I never came close to experiencing before adjusting my sliders to test these ideas out.Red LegendComment

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
I love the theory behind these, it was crazy enough to get me to try them! My urge to play '13 was so heavy that I just went and got '12 at a reduced price to "scratch the itch" for the time being.
I gave these a shot for OD in my Franchise and it was a completely different experience. I think for the good lol.
I (the Cubs) only managed two hits throughout 9 innings, while the Nationals had four hits. Basically the difference was walks, I had seven walks on the game and one of those drove in the winning run in the 7th inning. Fujikawa/Russell/Marmol closed down the game in the 7th/8th/9th and my first win of the season came on a 1-0 win against Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals!
It was different. But awesome. I'll see if I'm still drawing BB's at an absurd rate or if it was an anomaly. But there is something here. Something cool that provides a unique experience from any other set.
Thanks for bringing these out man, much appreciated.

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
I started up my first serious MLB 12 franchise this week. I'll be posting relevant stats and maybe even uploading HD gameplay footage throughout my season. I was ready to buy software to easily get HD footage up, of quality gameplay. But when PS4 recently announced the recording and streaming details on the new system, I'm in limbo now, on shilling $200 for software that does nearly the same thing.
Regardless, of how I broadcast my progress, we'll all get to see how my sliders hold up statiscally, and will address the concern of too often seeing light offensive games. This is something that, even I don't know what to expect out of, but I'm O.D looking forward to it. My first game will probably be tonight, a Spring Training day game vs the Orioles. (After a series of random drawings, I'm in control of the Cardinals. I've already learned the roster, so I'm kind of ready to go).
In exhibitions, I've seen offensively charged innings and games and have even posted video displaying it, even back to day 1 in my first ever experience with these sliders. I've also seen a lot of instances light on offense, innings and full games as well. Exhibitions are too small of a sample to measure consistency, especially in a game like baseball where there's so many different types of players and teams. Franchise mode will be the appropriate measure of how what these settings do for the statistics on a daily basis and since I'm finally started I'll share that information with you,

early update posted, from last nights ballgame. I will have a more holistic update coming next, that will accumulate a week or more worth of play. Never intended to update each game, this is just a taste to get out there for starts.
See you soon, on the next update.

Re: Madman Sliders - Let Player Attributes Take Over the Game
Great so far for these sliders. I played two games so far and the scores were 3-0 and 1-0. For picthing Strasbourg had 7ks in 3 innings. Everything seemed to work really well. Hopefully things that may need to be changed gets changed and you can make a great game.Comment
