A week ago: I have played about half a season and my hitting numbers are crazy and I'm way to frustrated to continue and I'm ready to give up on the game. I was first in HR, first in not striking out, close to the bottom in walks, last in BA, and last in doubles. I was getting far too many weak hits on balls I timed well, in the middle of the plate and usually ahead in the count. I got advice to turn up sliders and make it easier, but playing on All Star I didn't want to do this as I felt it like cheating, since the pitching isn't even very good at that level my failures were more so on the random rolls of hitting, not skill IMO. So I decided to just try legend default.
Pitching: I have enjoyed pitching on most levels, interfaces, etc. But I have found default legend with meter is my go-to. This is not about pitching however and go with what has worked for you.
Hitting: I have just been testing hitting the games now and simming when on defense because I want to dial these in. I started with default legend with timed hitting and it was nearly impossible. I then tested at con 7, tim 7 and solid hits 7... was ok. Then I went to con 8, tim 7 solid hits 8... and have since gone to con 10, tim 7 , and solid hits 10 as well.
I feel like this is close to where hitting needs to be for us guys that were just frustrated with lack of realism and production with the more popular sets. At this level, the pitchers are much better so I don't feel like it's cheating turning things up and also at this level the CPU will get more swing and misses than the other level. I am now striking out more and walking more because of the higher quality pitching and hitting balls hard that I time well, in the meat of the plate and ahead in the count. They are hard hit, but because of legend many of them still don't result in hits, but it feels way more realistic to hit a lazer to an OF or IF and get out on a pitch like that then hit a dud and still get out. I have seen the most variety of 2B, HR, and singles playing this way then ever before.
If you are in the same boat I was with hitting, I encourage you to try and test and give some feedback as I'm not sure what the best range is, but I feel it is somewhere between 8 and 10 for contact and solid hits (only 9 combos to try)... timing is up in the air, I just left it at 7 from the first test.
Let me know what you think. Thanks.
