Do you guys ever use the contact or power swing? I don’t want to change my hitting camera or my pitch speed because well it’s already at default. But I can’t stop striking out to save my life.

Contact swing when I'm down 0-2 or 1-2 to foul off some close pitches is what I do.

A couple more things, your TV. I know that years ago I didn't realize my crappy TV was actually causing me to strike out a ton due to a lag that I wasn't aware of. If you have a kick *** gaming TV, then disregard this.

Also, I'm pretty good at hitting and its really because I focus on an area right before each pitch. That area is usually up in the zone, near the pitcher's release point. If I am not focused on a specific area, then everything looks like a strike and I end up swinging at everything.

I don’t know how old or crappy my tv is but I know it’s not new or the greatest to begin with. Looking for a reasonable monitor right now. I put my PlayStation in performance mode and game mode. I don’t think it’s making much of a difference.

I'm not great in the TV / Monitor knowledge area unfortunately LOL. There are some guys in this board that know WAY more than I do.

Yeah, I don' t know much about TV and monitors. My wife would kill me if I told her we need a new TV so I don't strike out as much. LOL I can imagine the conversation...

Me: Hey dear, what do you think about getting a new TV?
Wife: What is wrong with the one we have?
Me: Well, the MLB average is about 7-9 K's per game and I'm striking out way too much. A new TV will help that.
              Me: Where you going?

I use contact swing when I'm down to 0-2 and 1-2. But I sometimes debate if pushing the opposite way when behind the count with a balanced hitter would be better.

The mistake you made was bringing it up. You just gotta show up with a new TV 😎

I would probably still be living in the garage with the new TV and PS5. But would that be THAT bad? LOL

I’m not trying to blame it on my tv. But considering last year I switched to this tv and both this year and last I lead the league in strikeouts after never even coming close to that the first 18 years I played this game. I was always one of the hardest teams in the league to strikeout. I’m not sure if a camera angle or pitch speed would actually help this if the issue was lag from my tv. If this the case it would be unbelievably frustrating to find out this was the issue for two whole years.

Are you making sure your TV is on Game Mode? A newer TV (even a cheap one) on Game Mode is around 10ms of lag, which is negligible. But outside of Game Mode, it can easily be upwards of 100ms (which is definitely noticeable).

Personal preference for me but I don’t use any direction when down in the count. Feels like I get better plate coverage if I’m not trying to push or pull the ball. I will also use contact swing with my non-power hitters when down in counts but I never contact swing with a runner on 1st and less than 2 outs.

I had posted about the amount of strikeouts I have experienced in the last two years with this game. It was mentioned about what tv I used. So I went on marketplace and found a good deal on what appeared to be a great tv. I purchased it and brought it home plugged it in fired up my PS5 and immediately got these weird halos over the screen and the overall graphics were terrible. I attempted to fix it but it really wasn’t possible. The woman who I purchased it from was more than willing to give me my money back. I used the same tv I had and played around with the settings on my PS5. I placed everything on “automatic” Woah. I don’t know what I did but this has dramatically improved. It looks amazing and plays much better. I went down to four pitch speed because why not I guess. Used contact swing on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. Significantly cut down on my strikeouts. I’m getting significantly better hit variety. My offense isn’t exploding by any means and I still strikeout but at a far more realistic rate. One thing I’ve also noticed with this setup is that if I try to nibble the corners I actually get hit harder. So for whatever reason I have been moving closer to the edge but not trying to paint. It’s helped with what I thought was my biggest problem is how difficult I found to pitch with this setup. I have a month left of the season. I have a six game lead in my division. The American League central has not exactly been a powerhouse division in my franchise. We will see what the season turns out to be. So thanks to everyone in here that has helped with some of my questions even if they aren’t directly related to this thread. Moral of the story is if you need help ask. The game is fun, make sure you’re having it to.

Since everyone is talking about which swing types to use I'll post something that really helped me. This is from Denny3k but it seems his original post is lost.
