Re: how would this be for an addition to ANY BASEBALL GAME...
I would like a baseball game to offer a robust option for recreating history.
1. Make it easy to change players names attributes and appearances. Diehards can then create and share rosters.
2. Allow custom leagues where I can choose number of teams/divisions per league and number of games. I wouldn't mind playing a season in the "pre division" era with 154 games, and 8 teams per league.
3. Allow us to edit city and team names: Los Angeles -> Brooklyn, Rangers -> Senators etc.
The tough stuff like retro unis and stadiums are already in most baseball games.
I really enjoy the historical stuff in video games, but it seems that most developers don't go the extra mile to make it as authentic as it could be:
In WSB2k3, you can play in retro unis in the Polo Grounds, but then batters walk up to rap music.
In Football games, you can play with the old Colts or Vikings, but it just doesn't feel right in the RCA or Metro Domes.
ESPN NHL has some nice historical teams, but seeing the 68 Canadiens with helmets dampens the experience.
In both Madden & the 2K series, I have replayed the Green Bay/Dallas Ice Bowl from the 60's. Shotgun formations, 2 point conversions and jumbotrons are a few of the things that prevent me from getting too into it.
Sorry for rambling. To answer your question, Yes, I would like that feature, especially if done correctly. If I replay the the 1919 Black Sox - Cinci series, I don't wan't to see any night games, electric scoreboards, mid inning hip-hop, artificial turf, helmets or any other modern wonders.Comment

1990 Reds vs A's
That series, in theory, SHOULD have been heavily in favor of the A's :=)Comment

Re: how would this be for an addition to ANY BASEBALL GAME...
Cardot is right, and it really frustrates me. I'm not really a baseball fan, but I like "old time" baseball. I only play in the old parks and the retro unis. I try to edit rosters to be only old time players. High Heat for the PC was great because of all the mods and DangerZ's editor. I could even add my own player photos.
But the console games are horrid for editing. There is no reason whatsoever to not allow a guy to edit anything he wants. No reason not to be able to create an 8 team league, assign a team to any city, give it any name, uni, and stadium. Or edit any player with no restrictions.
The reason I quit playing Madden football is because it restricts the numbers you can assign a player. I'm sorry, but I refuse to play as the '66 Packers if Ray Nitschke cannot wear #66.Comment

Definately, has the greatest world series game ever (game 6). How about '67, and '45 (I think that was the year)?
I think it'd be hard to get permission to have every player in the game, they would just have their numbers or something.Comment
