    Re: XBN Reviews ASB

I hadn't touched MVP since I got ASB. Loaded MVP up the other nite and it was what I remembered, FUN! I enjoy ASB too. I'll probably start a regular franchise with MVP once the final rosters are done. Until then, i'll keep playing my expansion franchise in ASB.

XBN simply embarrasses itself with every sports game review they publish.

They should ignore the genre, for the sake of their own credibility.

Just looked it up... MVP got a 9 out of 10.

So, according to the graders at XBN, MVP gets an A-, while ESPN gets an F, and ASB gets an F--. The reviewers have clearly demonstrated their professional skills in fairly evaluating these three games.

Someone please tell any web site that reviewed this game poorly to list the reviewers credentials because I am convinced by what I have seen this year, more than any other year, that EA has every reviewer in their pocket. Before the game ever came out it was being touted highy and praised widely. I even believe this web site called it the best baseball game this year. Ask people like me who have played the sport on a competitive level to review baseball games. I have no ill will toward any game maker nor do i need freebies from any of them, nor do I need backstage passes to any of the electronic shows or gaming conventions or anything like that. I do very well for myself, thank you very much.

The unequivocal truth is that ASB is the closest thing we have right now to representing the sport of baseball. True, Acclaim could have done some things better, but clearly the people who work on that team love the sport and KNOW the sport. They understand the game and are faithful to it. MLB is 2nd and MVP is a distant 3rd. I have not seen ESPN yet. I don't care who's name is on the box or who's picture is on the box. I don't care how pretty the graphics are. I also don't care how strong a voice is brought to bear by the masses of people who prefer a particular game. they don't sway me.

I don't have a lot of free time so when I do sit down to play a baseball game, I want it to play like the real thing. I want the pace to be slow. I want the opposition to work the count, not swing at every strike. I want the AI to steal or attempt to steal. I want to see hit and runs, the works.
                  Simply put, ASB is that.

I'm not an EA *****. I love Tiger Woods 2004 and Nascar 2004. They just don't know baseball!

first off i want to start by saying i bought and currently am playing MVP and enjoying. now i also bought ASB, because it looked pretty good. my first impression was that it sucked real bad, but after giving it a chance, i can really see where u guys r coming from and im enjoying this game just as much as MVP and sometimes more.

GI gave ESPN better first impression grades than MVP, but still gave MVP some high ratings. They didn't give ASB any ratings over 80. They didn't give ESPN any rankings under 90. I officially don't trust Video Game Reviewers...
