I am convinced by what I have seen this year, more than any other year, that EA has every reviewer in their pocket.

I don't know about that, but EA does know how to play to the reviewers. MVP plays great out of the box, and whether or not the flaws bother you, they are not immediately apparent. ASB by contrast has some glitches that become apparent realtively quickly, while some of its best qualities can only be recognized after several hours of gameplay.
Since most reviewers don't seem to spend adequate time with sports games, I can see where they would like MVP alot more.
And Patsfan, thanks for the topic, but you'll probably get a little more bang for your trolling buck over on the ESPN board, so scoot.

I think you have a good point there. I don't have ASB this year for budgetary reasons, but I think my thought processes for last year's ASB and this year's MVP could illustrate a point (that's a scary thought actually!)
"What went through my head in the weeks of playing MVP"
Wow..this game is a lot of fun! Hmm...there don't seem to be too many CPU steals, but damn this game is fun. I didn't realize Sammy Sosa could lay out for a ball like that, but damn this game is fun.
"What went through my head last year while playing ASB"
Wow...batting is tough! Starting to get the hang of batting, but I still can't field the ball right. Ohh..so THAT'S how future throws work. Wow...this game plays more like baseball than any I've played. Damn...I lost a guy to waivers...guess I should have read that rulebook more closely. This game is great!
The sad fact is that most reviewers have the attention span of a 5 year old with ADHD on too much caffeine. They can't/don't/won't spend the time to appreciate a game like ASB.
