    Jim;
    Yes I have tried ALL the batting choices. I am HORRIBLE at all of them That's why I mostly play manage only. But after dropping ESPN from my gameplay cycle(for now...it IS just too repetitive for me)..I started a fourth franchise in ASB...one where I actually do play all the games.

    Truckie;
    I could not agree more. A set of sliders so that the player could tweak the game to thier liking would be a GREAT addition. On the same note, and I'm sure Jim would agree with me here, is to change the letter attributes to a number system with a wider span. It does not have to be 1-100 but putting more of a change between the best players and the not so great players would be better with more of a spread.

    I agree a number system for the player ratings would be much better than the current letter system.I still think that sliders would cure 70% of ASBs gameplay issues.

    Also, Truckie, I think I asked you this before....are you a fireman? I am, and I'm just guessing that from your name.

      I've done the same thing. I rented all three from gamefly and after 20-30 games of each I chose MVP. Then after a week or so I really missed ASB so I went out and bought it. After a few games all the little bugs kept popping up vaccum grabs, outfielders catching eveything(although as I write this I'm thinking...doesn't this happen in all the other games as well), the fact that zone hitting was poorly implemented. So, I traded it in to get ESPN after a week of ESPN I just couldn't take the lack of any baseball atmosphere and at least on three occations during that week I would swing at a ball and miss but thinking that I should've hit it I check the replay to see the ball morph through my bat. Combine that with IMO some rather poor graphics(other than the stadiums) and choppy animations and I'm right back to ASB. It just feels like baseball! So I I bought it, for the second time.
      This time I going to give it time to properly learn cursor hitting, even though I don't like it that much. It should come tomorrow, I can't wait.

      As for next years game. I hav eone word for Acclaim SLIDERS............SLIDERS............SLIDERS!!!

      I am acually really happy this game doesnt have sliders!
      I find myself worrying about changing sliders all the time instead of just enjoying the game itself. I really enjoy playing this game on Legend level with 3-d cursor hitting and the sim pitch speed. When i was playing mvp i was changing the sliders way too much. Everytime i would score 10 runs i would make the sliders easier to hit. Then i wouldnt be able to score a run! Anyway my point is a really cant stand sliders in video games, i wish they would just make more games playable out of the box.

            RedsFan,

            Yes, edited the players. It's not as time consuming as you might think. Before each series against a team you can go to the opposing team and do the editing.

            1. Take the outfielders and drop their RANGE and ARM STRENGTH. Take a look at range. Many slow outfielders are rated A in their RANGE capability, doesn't make sense.

            2. Go to each player and up their speed rating. I upped all except the slowest players to B. Take a look at many of the players. Many are rated at speed of D. That's one reason they don't advance or tag up.

            3. Up the infielders ARM STRENGTH (it will offset the speed increase of playrs on close plays).

            I also upped the pitchers RANGE to see if they would cover those choppers in front of the plate better.

            Knight has numbers on PITCHER STAMINA that you can PM him as I've forgotten what I did.

            And yes, sliders would take care of this, but it's a long season and if you're only going to be playing ASB I tell you it's worth it.

            It saved the game for me.

                        Re: Returned to ASB

                        When you edited pitcher's range and stamina, how did you get their health and effectiveness back to where it should be? When editing the position players, you only have to worry about the health rating jumping around and you can just be patient and go in and out of the player edit to get it back to a reasonable rating. But when I experimented with a couple of pitchers, with two variables to worry about, I could never get health back to a reasonable rating and effectiveness back to where it was.

                        By the way, Knight, I've also moved away from manage only and have started to work on cursor hitting.

                              About the health and effectivness....I don't worry about the health rating so much...but for the effectiveness rating, if you just change the weight of the player the effectiveness(and sometimes health rating) changes...however, it is a major pain in the butt switching back and forth between screens to check out the changes. In most cases, I just live with whatever it turns out to be. I don't see THAT much of a difference.

                              Reds;
                              Like Jim said...it's not that much work, if you do it a series at a time, starting with your team first. What I do is edit say the Braves...and then Baltimore as the AL counterpart(I use the Mets...so I gotta get all the AL teams in there somehow.

                              About the sliders, I agree that not having to have them would be great, but let's face it...if you have more flexibility to change the game to your style of play...for the greatest amount of people, you will be making everyone a lot happier. If you don't want to change anything...you don't have to!
