How to Check Swing (Classic Swing Control)

    Xbox 360 Version

For everyone having trouble trying to check their swing using Classic Swing Control.

Like many others here, i've had a hard time consistently checking my swing. So i thought i would share how i managed to get it to work for me.

    1. Use the right trigger to check swing.

I've read how other people suggest "half tapping" the A button or even "double tapping" the A button. And i have gotten the batter to check swing trying the "half tap" method but i could never do it consistently. The right trigger method seems to work best for me.

    2. Timing is CRUCIAL.

There is VERY small window of time in which to check your swing. I would say its about a quarter of a second to a half second right after you press the A button to initiate your swing. Its about the length of time it takes the batter to take a step, start his swing and complete about 30-40% of his swing. Once the bat reaches the back point of the plate (around 50% of his swing) its too late to check swing (obviously).

    3. Pull the right trigger almost immediately after pressing the A button to swing.

As i mentioned earlier, timing is the key here. You have a very small window of opportunity to check swing. Because of this, in order to check swing correctly and consistently you have to literally pull the right trigger right after you press the A button or the batter will already be committed to his full swing.

    4. Practice, Practice, Practice

Because i had such a difficult time trying to check swing, i actually went to Homerun Derby Mode and just practiced this over and over until i was able to do it consistently. One thing that helps is the just watch your batter swing. Watch the swing animation and make sure you're pulling the right trigger before the bat reach the plate. After you get the timing down it will just be second nature as to when you have to let go of the A button.
