MMOBG (Massive Multiplayer Online Baseball Game).
For those of you familiar with MMORPG's (Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game) such as the ever popular WoW (World of Warcraft), I have an off the wall idea for 2K Baseball.
It seems that each year 2k Baseball is ridden with bugs, glitches, online exploits, etc. It also seems often times the game is just last year's version with a feature or two added and updated rosters.
What if, instead of releasing a new game every year and paying $60 for a new game every year, 2k Baseball was treated like a MMORPG where you pay a monthly fee but get constant updates and patches. Rosters could be constantly updated, new features added, bugs/glitches/exploits constantly fixed.
Money for upgraded, lag free servers would be available. Highly in depth online leagues would be available with all of the same features an offline league would have.
Just seems it would make sense on a lot of levels. Every so often, maybe when a new console comes out you have to buy the next gen version (for those of you familiar with Everquest, think Everquest 1 to Everquest 2).
The initial price of the software would have to come down. Most MMORPG's are $40.00 with a $15.00/month fee. Would you pay $10 - 15$ a month to play an online, lag free, constantly updated, baseball game?
Use the poll.
