He will probably get fired and then they'll make the stupid move of hiring Bob Brenly since he's already calling Cubs games on TV.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I have to go with Yes. Watching him managage/watch a game is painful. He's an idiot. Maybe they should try a AAA manager or something, no one with a big name, unless it's Peter Gammons.University of Evansville Graduate

Re: should baker get the axe/ who should replace him
It will be an interesting winter for the Cubs coming up because someone will have to be held responsible for this season so it will either be Baker or GM Jim Hendry-or both. Baker does make questionable decisions at times and Hendry let Moises Alou walk, traded Sammy Sosa and replaced them with Jeremy Burnitz (today was the first time in over a month that the Cubs scored in double digits). Hendry also did nothing to really help the bullpen either, Chad Fox's career is likely over, Stephen Randolph is down in the minors and Scott Williamson is not expected to pitch this season.
No one can be blamed for all the injury's the Cubs have suffered this season, but both can be held accountable for the teams bad play. Baker does not manage like a N.L. manager, the Cubs do not move runners over, steal bases or hit and run, instead they wait for the 3 run homers which have not been coming. Thats where Baker is at fault. and see above for why Hendry is at fault.
The best thing the Cubs can do is clean house after the season is over.Comment

Originally posted by TimathieNo. It is not Bakers fault that half his team is on the DL. But they will I think in the end fire him. I just think it is to bad if they do.

Originally posted by MisfitMaybe they would be interested in Larry Bowa? I thought he got a raw deal in Philli and he'd probably like another shot at managing.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: should baker get the axe/ who should replace him
Grady Little would probably get the interim or the first shot since he's been in the organization as a roving instructor/talent evaluator since he left the Red Sox. There's also been talk of Larry Dierker, Jim Leyland, and Jim Tracy if he's fired from L.A. I would love for em to throw as much money as it takes to get Leo Mazzone from the Braves. As many pitchig problems and injuries as the Cubs have had, I think Leo could work wonders with the pitching staff. He has singlehandedly turned around the careers of more pitchers than Dusty has hurt the career of young pitchers.Comment
