Did moving helped Nationals?
Do you believe that moving from Montreal to Washington is a big part of the National's sucess?

I would certainly think so, they are dominating right now without a owner, think of what they can do when they get good money and a new stadium.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Did moving helped Nationals?
They just needed some support. I'm sure that their fatigue rised efficiently having to go from Montreal to Puerto Rico for home games, getting less than 20,000 in both stadiums (especially in Montreal). The fan base, I'm sure, has really helped them.
At the same time, I'm surprised that the Braves don't sell out as much as they should. They are a contending team every year with some fan favorites like the Jones duo, Smoltz, Hudson, and possibly even Giles. If they get more fans, I'm sure that their energy may increase a little bit also.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Did moving helped Nationals?
Absolutely. It boils down to one thing....ATTENDANCE.
There is a huge difference in playing in front of 9,000 fans as opposed to 32,000.
Here is a chart that shows you....

Re: Did moving helped Nationals?
I think the biggest part of the move is that they are actually playing all 81 of their home games in one place, instead of two different locations seperated by a couple thousand miles. Not to even mention the fact that there is now money to be spent by the team, and the fact they are playing in front of over 20,000 more fans a game.Comment

Re: Did moving helped Nationals?
I think it has more to do with knowing they're in one place and there's no rumours of moving.
I'm still PO'ed at MLB and how they handled the montreal situation tho.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Did moving helped Nationals?
Here are the totals of the Expos home attendance for 81 games from 98 to 04. Obviously the RFK totals have already passed each of these seasons in just 39 games.
1998 - 914,909
1999 - 772,737
2000 - 926,272
2001 - 642,743
2002 - 812,537
2003 - 1,025,639
2004 - 748,550Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

It's no wonder there have been so many first round failures the past few years, when you can't even get a sellout in the playoffs, I don't blame the players for essentially phoning it in.Comment

Basically, they are on pace to have 2.5 Million in attendance, which would top the best year in Montreal. Olympic Stadium had back to back years of 2.3 Mil (82, 83) but those are the two best.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: Did moving helped Nationals?
I think it is mainly because they don't have the cloud of being the Expos over their head anymore. Think about it, going into the year knowing you are a huge loser for years and a laughingstock. Then you get a new chance, a clean slate with a new name, new place, new stadium, new fans. And the best part is, absolutely no pressure on you. I think it has much more to do than simply attendance.Comment

Re: Did moving helped Nationals?
Bah, I hate Bud Selig.
He's helping out the team when it's in Washington. I don't see him giving the Montreal Expos any support when they were still around. It's a conspiracy; Selig wants to get rid of the Expos.
But of course, the record doesn't lie... it is helping the Nationals win because they got a slightly bigger payroll to work with to sign guys like Guillen.Comment
