I would love for Manny to come back so he would go in as an Indian to the Hall, but I think we would have to give up Sizemore and Lee to get him and I don't think we would do it.

I'd probably do Sizemore for Manny straight up...actually in 2 seconds, and I'm apart of the don't trade Manny coalition. I'm kind of assuming he's as untouchable as they come, but since you mentioned his name...you think they'd ever think about it since they have Coco?? Again, 99% of me says NO WAY but he's good enough to ask twice about. Otherwise, I'm assuming Lee and some other combination would be necessary to take Cleveland seriously. Since Manny mentioned them and not the other way around, it probably doesn't matter much.

The Red Sox won't consider sending Manny to a fellow American League team unless they're getting a heck of a lot in return, especially not one that is a division or wild card rival (like the Blue Jays, Angels, and Indians), so he had better start thinking about National League teams if he actually wants to get out of Boston. The Dodgers and the Mets are really the only two teams I could see wanting to take on most of his salary and having something to give to the Sox in return. Remember, even if Manny is asking for the trade, this is not a salary dump move and won't be treated like one. Odds are that he's in a Boston uniform come 2006 unless some team decides to get creative with their offer for him.

Not only that, but they placed him on irrevokable waivers and nobody wanted him.

Don't forget that things have changed since then. There was a much better free agent crop that year which was why the Sox were hoping to free up the Manny money for a buying spree. This year's crop is much worse and simply using the money saved to replace him with free agents doesn't seem to be a real possibility. They could try to trade him as part of an overall salary dump but I'm not sure the Boston fans would put up with much of that from the Red Sox right now. I think we all know that the current ownership will do everything possible to keep the fans happy and bleed more money out of them.

I don't think you have the money or talent to give in return for a guy like Manny Ramirez. Period. Not only that, but Manny is also a 5/10 guy now and can't be traded without his approval. If he doesn't want to do to DC then it just isn't happening.
