Steve Phillips said on Baseball Tonight whatever you do keep Heilman in the pen. So I guess you should put Heilman in the rotation asap.

I actually do agree with him though. Your replacing Zambrano a terrible pitcher just let Lima or some kid take his place for now. Heilman in the rotation means no 7th inning guy unless you trust guys like Bradford or Julio. When the trade deadline comes trade for a decent pitcher and that is that.

Well, I'm not a Mets fan per se, but I like thier current roster.
Anyways, there is no way Willis is going to be a Met unless the Mets trade someone like David Wright, not a minor league player; no matter how good he is.

I don't think the A's would bite on Milledge either with thier depth at outfield and DH.

It might be a bit too early to call up on the minor league prospects, considering that it is only May. It's not time yet for the panic button.

I think Roger will be staying in Houston if he does comes back but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Lima isn't the answer long term.

Out of the named options putting Heilman in the rotation is the best because while the Mets are losing a great arm in the bullpen, they are gaining a quality 5th starter who should have been in the rotationin the first place. When Bannister returns, Heilman can go back inside the bullpen or stay depending on his progress.

I don't think they should trade Milledge, especially for Barry Zito. I think Zito would be a bust in NY and I always pray that the Yanks stay away from him.

Who knows how good Milledge will be, but I would not get rid of the kid at this point in time. Getting rid of Kazmir was already a big enough mistake, they don't need to get rid of their stud position player after shipping away their stud pitching prospect.

Bingo. He also said this winter that we overpaid for Delgado. I thought that was hilarious coming from the guy that signed Mo Vaughn.

I agree not for Zito but if you can get D-Train you have to do it. He already is a proven ace. This allows the Mets to be serious contenders this year with Pedro and because he is so young the Mets will have an ace when Pedro is gone. Your not trading for Zambrano here you are trading for a stud.

Well I agree with that, Willis for Milledge is a no-brainer, however I haven't heard any serious rumors of that lately and all they've been talking about on ESPN Radio today is Zito-for-Milledge so that's what I addressed.

If that situation does come up though, I sure hope the Mets would take Willis.

hehe - some dumb caller on the radio last night thinks the Mets should trade for Kazmir...

I just heard on the radio that the Pirates have offered Oliver Perez to the Mets. It didn't say what they wanted in return.

                        Ah, okay.

Well, I still wouldn't consider that serious rumors. It's one writer making a suggestion. As it says in the article, a few sources say it has no chance of happening.

Odalis Perez has been on the Mets radar for a while and the Dodgers may finally be willing to deal. Perez has been inconsistant and there is even talk about putting him in the bullpen to see if Aaron Sele can hold down his spot in the rotation. Money could be an issue here, Perez is owed $19.million over the next 2 seasons plus a differed signing bonus plus a 1.5 million buyout for '08, the Dodgers probably won't be willing to eat a lot of that.

The words inconsistent andexpensive will make Perez hard to deal...

Unless the Mets are that desperate.

definitely trade for Dontrelle. However, I highly doubt the marlins would trade him cuz hes only like 23, so I guess option 2 would be to trade for Barry Zito. If the Mets wanna win this year, they need to get zito or Dontrelle.

With the latest stadium proposal falling apart and little to no hope of staying in Florida the Marlins are going to have to sell themselves to another city and trading Willis (or Cabrera) would not be the way to do it.
