using the d-pad to steal? you mean pressing up and hitting the x button? Is that the fix?

          Re: Stealing: Explored

Ok, i dont have to work till this evening and Im feeling adventurous.

I'm gonna try out this "legend method" that was in another post... even though i've played on legend and stole just as easy.

If that doesn't work I am going to start messing around with player attributes.

My goal with the player attributes is to make stealing hard. At first i was looking for a way to make it so i can get thrown out using the dpad method with no lead.... but Blue Shift did get the "taking a lead" part right this year so im gonna try to balance the catchers to the point where YOU HAVE TO take a extra step to get the steal. You need a big lead in real baseball and i think you should have to take that extra dangerous step in this game.

Now, my problem is that when it comes to big league catchers i am no authoriity because im a boston red sox fan and we never, ever steal (which is the irony of me being the one spearheading this whole thing). So, my updated player attributes will be based off the established player ratings and not me rebalancing the whole catcher system after my knowledge (cuz i have little). Im guessing im gonna come back and say something like "make every catcher's accuracy higher by Z and arm up by Y"

Here's to hioping this works. Ill be back with my findings later

                  *SIGH*

I tried the legend/pro sliders thing and it didnt work

                  Here's my test.

I went in and jacked up all of jorge possada's fielding attributes to 100. I then started a game of yankees vs yankees and i walked everyone giving all players a shot at stealing.

Using the Dpad method 100 rated possada never even came close to throwing out soriano.

Using the Dpad method 100 rated possada came close to getting Jeter but never got him.

Using the dpad method 100 rated possada got giambi (3 times in a row).

So then i started stealing manually, extending my lead

Jeter and Soriano = even less closeto getting out
                  Giambi = 3 for 4 stealing

Ugh. I love this freakin game but I dont understand how blue shift let this go by. They had ALL YEAR to fix this problem. If a 100 rated catcher can't throw out Jason Giambi the sh*t is broken. FIX IT.

Im out of ideas. Anyone else have any?

I think the problem may be that the distance between bases may be too short and the players base running speeds too high. From the movies that I have watched, the ball park dimensions look off. Try reducing the running speed of the players and see if that works.

It is unfortunate that this problem did not get fixed because it was also a problem with last years WSB. What is most disappointing though is that it seems even worse this year. The game probably will not achieve the sales goals SEGA was hoping for due to this problem.
