    Re: Official Pirates Thread

Fogg scares me a little too. He was rocked last year down the stretch and he didn't do very hot in spring training. Even though Spring training means nothing he still had a 5.00+ ERA this year.

Suppan will most likely be just an inning-eater, he won't be phenominal, nor will he go 1-15. He will provide a steady arm every 5th day.

On the offensive side Kenny Loften should be watched espically later in the season. At age 36 the months of August and September could be rough on him. They should also try to work Craig Wilson in every once in a while because all the time sitting on the bench could have an ill effect on the spark he brings to the team.

The most underatted part of the Pirates may be their bullpen. With Sauberbeck and Willaims the Pirates can usually turn a one run lead in the 8th into a win. The only problem is getting a one run lead.

The Pirates are doing a good job of signing vetrens till their prospects in the minor leagues are ready. With these additions it is a very real possibillity that the Bucos can finish above .500 for the first time in a decade. All that left to say is LET'S GO BUCS!!!!!!!

i've never really liked the pirates but this year there is something about them. don't know what. maybe its because i have giles on a fantasy team now but i do think they have a great team. pitching looked strong yesterday so thats a plus.

4-0 buccos! They spanked the Reds, and now its the Phillys turn! Its only 4 games into the season but we look to be really improved. We have some bats, and our rotation looks pretty damn good. Suppan just 3 hit the phils. God please let this last!

Yup the bucs have put up a lot of offense but it isn't going to happen every night. The staff is going to have to pitch well, but they will have some room for error because it looks like there is some signs of life in Pittsburgh's bats.

We won't score 7-10 runs every game, but I have confidence that we won't lose games where we give up 4+ runs all the time like last year.
