    Jimmy Rollins

If anyone outside of Manny and Bonds ever needed a bitch-slap, he would be the one.
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

also one of the worst defensive shortstops of all time, I have no idea how he won two straight gold gloves, that was a bigger robbery than the year the DH Rafy Palmero won it over tino. Mind you im a yankees fan.

Totally agreed! Jeters numbers speak very loudly. Jeter has been a crutch for the Yankees for years. If they didnt have him, they probably wouldnt even have a winning record.

I'm far from one of the Bill James nut hugger guys, but come on. Runs? Helps having guys behind you that can drive you in. All-Star games? Do you use Madden ratings to win football arguments?

Jeter is the epitome of the Ted Williams quote, "Greatness depends on circumstances." You put him anywhere else, he's just another solid SS.

And a good majority of the time was voted in by the fans. None the less, Jeter is good.

Re: Which Player(s) Do U Hate the most?

Look, I'm not a Yankee fan nor a Jeter fan myself, but I'd take him on my team. And a quick correction, Jeter is a 9 All Star.

Jeter is a career .316 hitter(.309 in the post season, .302 in the World Series). He has a career fielding percentage right now of .975 and a career on-base percentage of .387 which is not too shabby for a number 2 hitter.

                    A few more notables(postseason All-Time ranks)

                    Jeter is....

                    #1 in Hits (153)
                    #2 in Doubles (22)
                    #4 in RBI's (49)
                    #3 in XBH's (42)

I'd love to have Jeter hitting in front of Pujols, Ankiel, and Glaus.

well, its something we definitely won't have to worry about, because there is no way the Cards would ever pay him that type of money, especially now that he's on the decline.

Agreed. Cards need to focus on SP, bullpen and re-upping Pujols soon.

Well, some of those postseason numbers are inflated. When your team is in the postseason every year, you tend to get a lot of numbers if your at least decent. I think Dave Justice is in the top 5 in a lot of those categories as well, and I wouldn't call him elite by any means (though he is one of my favorite players).

I think, as usual, the argument lies somewhere in the middle. Jeter is not coming in as "clutch" as he used too, but he's still no scrub either (meaning I would agree that people overuse the clutch title with him now, but he certainly earned it in years past and isn't even close to impotent up there now either). He is overrated as a fielder, IMO...good for a great play, but not one of the best day-in/day-out SS by any means.

As a hitter, he is quite good and I think people call him overrated because they are looking at slugging/power related numbers, which is not what he excels at. He is a terrific #2 and puts good wood on the ball in almost all scenarios...can't ask for much more than that.

I would say some Yankees fans overrate him (as would be expected for almost any good player by his team's fans) and many detractors under value him because they focus on the hype rather than the substance.

Truth be told though, there are only a handful of teams that can say Jeter is not a significant upgrade over their current SS...even now that he seems to be at the back end of his career.

true, maybe you can call his numbers inflated because he's played in so many games, but still though, you have to deliver which he has done. And being a career .300 hitter in both the post season and World Series, well it doesn't matter how many games you play because you still have to get hits in your 3 or 4 AB's per game.

I just don't get calling him overrated. As both a SS and a #2 hitter, Jeter is one of the best.
