You would think that is true, but the ratings for last year were poor. Two wildcard teams meet up in WS. One which haven't been to the WS in quite a while, and other is only making it's first appearance. Well, that didn't do well.
The Yankees weren't included, so why did it do so poorly?

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

For one, New York is the largest TV market, not only in the US, but in all of North America. So, a NY team not in the WS will affect ratings.

Two, other than last year's Series (I'm a Pirates and Angels fan; what a combination, huh?), the only other Series I watched with any enthusiasm was the Diamondbacks-Yankees. Let me tell you; until the Angels destroyed them last year in the playoffs, nothing made me happier than watching the 'Backs win it in the bottom of the 9th and watching the reaction of the Yankees players. So, yeah, I watched. Doesn't mean I'm a Yankees fan.

Yankees fans always miss the point. It's not necessarily the Yankees they hate, it's how they're able to do business in today's MLB that people have a problem with. Give the Pirates $200 million and Dave Littlefield running the show; the Pirates would do quite well!
