You may have not noticed, but Bernie had an excellent playoffs, and was hot in the World Series. His offense is fine; he may need to move to left or right though.

Re: Not good enough for the Yankees

I think Bernie is as good a hitter as ever-- moving him to left permanently would better enable him to stay healthy. I wouldn't be surprised to see him win the AL batting title next season.

I'd move Matsui to right, Jeter to center, Soriano to short then sign Todd Walker.

Then I'd return Giambi to the A's, pay his salary, and beg forgiveness.

Oh, but the Giambi part is okay??

Jeter would be just as good IMO in center than at short-- (hate to point out he aint that great a SS, in the regular season anyway). Soriano couldn't be any worse at short than he is at second-- he played short in the minors. Bernie would absolutely benefit from a move to left. Todd Walker has the ideal stroke for Yankee stadium-- I see 25 to 30 homers easily.

Giving Giambi back to the A's would counter-act the Giambi curse.. (that being the Yankees never win another World Series after stealing him from the A's... (in the late 21st century, after 25 straight trips to the playoffs with no title, the chants of 0-1, 0-1, 0-1 will ring in the ears of yankee fans everywhere)..
