There is no date to as of when Vlad will sign with any team. I don't see him going to the O's anymore because he's turned down 2 contracts from the O's of 5 years 65 million. They have offered him that 2 times and haven't changed there spot. Also the fact that Vlad and his agent have said they don't have that many dominicans on the team.

He's starting to sound like Shawn Green when he wanted out of Toronto and only go to a place with a high jew population.

Um.....that wasn't exactly the case, Green wanted out cuz of Cito Gaston whom he never had a good relationship with. It just so happened that he was traded to LA because LA was one of the few teams that would sign Green to a big contract.

As for Vlad, he'll sign by mid-January and i'm betting it'll be either San Diego or Baltimore still. I think Vlad's agents are trying to jack up the price which is kinda hard to do when there isn't much of a market for him now.

Ok. Vlad will not settle for less money than Miguel and I believe Miguel is now going to get about 13 mill a year. Vlad is easily worth the 15 mill he's asking. I also don't see the Padres giving him 15 mill a year. When they are struggling to get players. They have a payroll this year of 55 mill. After Towers said at the beginning they're going to have something along the lines of 70 mill.

So, Padres are out and the Marlins are out. Even though the O's have the "money". They have other problems to solve than RF. But it's going to be interesting to see what happens. If in fact he still ends up in Balt.

                              Just a nugget of info:

                              Javy was O's target

                              From that article:

"Contract talks [with Guerrero] are ongoing, and will go on through the holidays," Flanagan said. "I don't have a sense of any kind of time frame. But with the pieces we've added so far, he's still an important piece. . . . We felt our two critical positions were catcher and shortstop. And having Tejada in the fold certainly didn't hurt this process [with Lopez] at all."

I wouldn't say it is forgone conclusion that the O's get Vlad, but it is pretty close. Tejada and Vlad share agents and are 'friends'. The only other team he 'wants' to go to, allegedly, is the Marlins, who can't get a stadium much less sign on of the top 5 position players in baseball.

And if any of you think 6 years, $65 million is the O's final and top offer, you are crazy. We have only offered it once, and that is because no one else is bidding on him. As soon as someone does, Beatigan is going to flash the money, and I am guessing the final contract will be around 6-7 years for $90-$105 million.
