What most of you fail to realize is that while this would be a GREAT move for the Sox, (I would only sign him for 2 yrs myself) is that he would have to face MUCH more heavy hitters in the AL east compared to almost everyone in the entire NL. Maddux would be hard pressed to put up great numbers in AL ballparks as well since they are more hitter friendly.

I haven't heard anything of him going to Boston, all the rumors were him going to San Diego. Maddux for 3 years in a tough, tough AL East, in the AL ballpark may not turn out as well as the Red Sox would hope.

If this happens I am going to be blown away! Can you even begin to imagine Boston's rotation? Pedro, Schilling, Lowe, Maddux, and Wakefield. That's by far the best rotation in the league, and it would be next to unstoppable.

Being a Yankee fan, I'd be happy if he went to Boston. He's not the same pitcher anymore. I'm much happier they're spending their money on him rather than ARod.

maybe so, but he can still win 15 games a year

That's a pretty good move overall. Maddux is not the same pitcher he was 3 seasons ago, but he is still one of the top 25 in MLB. He also will be valuable in mentoring the young rookies, which he did pretty well of with the Braves. It's a shame to see him leave, he will be missed at Atlanta.

Is there a slit wrist gremlin?! The thought of him in a Red Sox uniform makes me wanna throw up.
