    Re: maddux to RED SOX

But... he NEVER threw very hard.

The thing is, hitters in the NL just got used to the way his ball moves and the pitches he uses in a certain situation over a decade.

The AL isn't going to figure it out after one game.

      Re: maddux to RED SOX

It has nothing to do with the AL not seeing him. He's not the same pitcher anymore- his ball doesn't move like it used to. Couple that with the smaller parks (like Fenway) and it's a recipe for disaster IMO. I still think he's going to either SD or St Louis, from what I've heard. I read that he wants to stay in the NL because he likes to bat and on the west coast if possible.

If you don't think Maddux's pitches still move an unGodly amount, you didn't see him pitch that much last year.

It's just that (1) he was leaving them up and out over the plate more and (2) hitters were better at guessing what he was going to try to throw. But the ball was still darting all over the place.

And Wrigley's power alleys are MUCH smaller than Fenway's.

Okay, maybe his ball still moves, but he doesn't locate it as well as he used to.
